Sum Dim Sum Queued for about an hour before we finally got a table! I can finally see what the hype is about! They serve pretty unique items like the pan fried mushroom bun, baked salted egg custard bun and steamed crispy rice roll with shrimp! The bill racked up to a whooping $63 even after using two burpple deals so it’s not v wallet friendly😿 However it rly serves quality food and I can tell that a lot of thought has been put into creating these dishes! This place has become one of the top dim sum places on my list and I’ll be smarter in the future and make a reservation beforehand or opt for takeouts or deliveries hehe Taste: 8/10 Presentation: 7.5/10 Ambience: 7/10 (pretty small place, they should expand!!)

Crusty Liu Sha Bao I’m a sucker for liu sha bao and this rly blew my mind!! It’s the first time I’ve com across liu sha bao w a crispy crust unlike the usual soft bao outer layer! The lava oozed out onto my fingers and I wasn’t fast enough to save some of the lava that dripped onto my plate. A definite must-try and one of the best liu sha baos I’ve tasted in my life!

Can only redeem one Category per meal Slightly disappointed as we thought we could redeem 3 categories under Burpple Beyond (Steamed, Congee & Pan-fried) but it turns out you can only redeem one category per Beyond subscription. We chose the congee of higher value. The Salted Egg Yolk Custard Buns were really good as they spam lots of salted egg lava and the fish congee is flavorful & homely. Xiaolongbao was okay. Japanese Dumpling (though recommended on the list) was slightly underwhelming and we don't recommend it. Honey BBQ Pork Buns were not bad but might be a bit too sweet for some. Overall still worth a hearty lunch meal! Spent $31 for 2 pax with the amount pictured above + the bowl of century egg congee not featured in the image.

Oy Oy Oy Anyone who’s known me for a while will know of my predilection for orh luak (fried eggs, starch & oyster). Sadly, other than Ah Chuan who’s currently playing ‘Where’s Waldo’ with his ever changing hours, I haven’t really found any other orh luak that’s been stunningly stellar. That is until I stumbled upon Hougang Fried Oyster. That gooey, greatly gratifying starch mixture is fried fantastically till it’s half gooey, half crispy before the egg goes in and is fried till slightly crispy and plenty fluffy. And that, ladies & gentlemen, is where the fresh, fat oysters come in. About ten of those briny, plumptious beauties are briefly fried before the whole hot mess is carelessly plated up, ready for a torrent of sharp, sourish chili sauce to drench it. It does get too oily at the end, but there’s no denying the bountiful amounts of enjoyment derived from this ugly delicious plated for fried fabulousness. Besides, if it does get too rich at the end, just splash on more of that sapid, spicy and slightly sour chili sauce! For only five bucks, this is damn good eatin’.

Fried Oyster [$5] Couldn’t find my fav Simon Road Oyster Omelette at its new location and we were too hungry to continue hunting, so we went off to this new place to try & it was shiok!! I love crispy > wet oyster omelettes and that’s what they serve up here, with a higher crispiness in its crispy to gooey ratio. For $5, it was a great portion, with about 6 big sized creamy oysters. Definitely will be back! 📍Hougang Fried Oyster • Fried Kway Teow 35A Hougang Avenue 8 Singapore 531435 🕘 Closed on Mondays

Prawn Noodles with Prawn Paste Pork Rib For $10, it is a bit steep for prawn noodles, notwithstanding the "1 Michelin star" tag associated with it. The prawn broth was very tasty, but the true star of the dish for me was the prawn paste pork rib! It is absolutely a genius combination! However the waiting time is quite long seeing as the place has a very small seating capacity. I waited 20 min despite being second in line and early for lunch!

蝦皇豬扒湯麵 $10 King Prawn Noodle Soup with Prawn Paste Spare Ribs After queued for more than half an hour to order and get a seat, then waited another 20 mins for the food. What I got was a bowl of lukewarm MSG loaded broth, not fresh with mushy texture prawn and soggy noodle, also the fried spare rib was cold too. Really disappointing!

Weeks after its opening, we returned to check out the taste could be better. And with Chef Kang in the kitchen today, we held our hopes high. We had the prawn noodles and the hot stone claypot rice as well. Served steaming hot, the rice was no lacking in the crispy burnt rice that we loved. Although there wasn’t other ingredient than egg, Chef Kang’s crispy pork lard added much flavour to the rice. Comparatively, the prawn paste pork chop took a backseat to the pork lard. The prawn soup tasted much more balanced and flavourful today, anchored by the man himself in the kitchen. We were glad that the prawn was also fresher. Good move to serve the pork chop on the mesh separated from the soup to keep it crispy. Previously, the noodles without the pork lard were pretty average; but its taste was certainly elevated with each bite of the fragrant and crispy pork lard cube. Overall, we still felt that these were a little on the pricy side. But as long as the standards are maintained, we will return for those tasty burnt rice, rich prawn soup and fragrant pork lard.

Premium Toku-Jo ($22.80) Tenjin is the latest concept by the Les Amis group, and joins the ever popular tendon scene in Singapore. The moment i stepped into the restaurant, i was wowed by the beautiful interior. Tenjin definitely makes for a very instagrammable dining spot! Featured here is the Premium Toku-Jo, consisting of anago, crab leg, prawn, fish, egg and assorted vegetables. I like how each of the items were lightly battered and not too oily, retaining its crispiness even after the time we spent to take our photos. My favourite items were the anago, crab leg and egg! Each set also comes with miso soup and kyabetsu salad. Another important thing i wanna mention is that the ventilation here is superb, so you will not walk out smelling like fried food after your meal. Thanks Burpple for inviting and Tenjin for hosting us. #BurppleEatup

Jo - Special [$14.80] If you don’t need the additional fish, anago and crab leg, go for this affordable bowl! It comes with everything else - prawn, vegetables and egg, alongside the standard bowl of miso soup and kyabetsu salad. You get to choose from the regular or spicy tare here. I preferred the regular for it’s more balanced with its sweetness and savouriness, while the spicy option would work better with more heat. All the pieces were fried very well and weren’t greasy at all. Thank you @tenjinsg for having us and @burpple for the kind invite! ✨

Truffle Chawanmushi [$3.80] So gooooood! Absolutely loved this cup of smooth and silky truffle chawanmushi. It was so flavourful with just enough of that punch of truffle. Thank you @tenjinsg for having us and @burpple for the kind invite! ✨

When you mention babi guling in Bali, two names immediately comes to mind; one being the ever-popular Pak Malen in Semiyak and the legendary Ibu Oka in Ubud. Fortunately, Ibu Oka has now opened in Semiyak and you need not travel more than hour for it. The babi guling (55,000 Rp) comes in a sizeable portion with the various parts of the pig, prepared in different ways. If you are a pork lover, you definitely cannot miss out on babi guling when in Bali and you have to be there early as these get sell out very quickly as my order is missing the crispy pig skin and Balinese vegetables. _________________ Wurung Babi Guling Ibu Oka 3 Address: Jl. | O V E R S E A S | | ~ $10 | ... ... ... Everyone recommended me to hunt for Babi Guling when in Bali: hence I found this hidden restaurant in the woods of Ubud - visited by Anthony Bourdain !!!! We came for lunch however was disappointed to find out that the crispy pig is only sold at 11pm-1am????? Which didn’t really make sense but anyways got their set menus tbh it looks the same😐 I’m not familiar with Indonesian cuisine so I’m in no position to judge, just disappointed that the roasted pig skin was tough and not crispy so was the meat. 🙁 I will say the spice sauce is interesting and flavourful but came cold... the beer was good though as well as the window view of the greenery like a natural framed painting🌿 if anyone got better recommendations for Bali guling pls comment below for my next trip! ✨ .... ... ... #burrple #instagood #wanderlust #travelphotography #travelblogger #tripadvisor #igsgfood #culturetrip #baliholiday #nomninjas #travel #instafood_sg #baliguide #beautifuldestinations # #foodblogger #foodie #sgeats #balifoodies #foodphotography #zipkick #foodforfoodies #topfoodnews #balifood #indonesianfood #bestfoodfeed #timeout #gastronomy #bali #foodstory #trip

🎶Yes I may have hurt you, but I did not DESSERT you~🎶 This might have hurt my waistline but a meal is never complete without some sweet treats, right? 😍😍😍 Here are some of the desserts that I had at @pizza_logic_sg! ✔ . 🔹️Almond & Ricotta cake ($12++): This may not be the most IG-worthy-looking cake but I truly enjoyed it! ❤ The texture of the cake was on point, with a good balance between fluffy & dense! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 You are bound to enjoy the nutty flavours in every bite as a generous amount of crushed almond bits were spread all over this crumbly slice! 😋 Topped with creamy ricotta 🧀 which lends a luscious mouthfeel. . 🔹️Italian crème brulee Catalana ($10++): Perfect to satisfy your sweet tooth! 🤤 The tangy berries compote cuts the sweetness of the burnt sugar top & milky custard. ✔ Some might find it a little too sour but I really liked it! Overall it leaned towards the sweet side for me so it’s good for sharing! 😊 . 🔹️Tiramisu ($10++): A classic Italian dessert, this rendition boasts of strong coffee ☕ & liquor 🥃 that will wake you up instantly! With a nice proportion of cream & cake layers, it loses out on textures as it was too wet & soggy in my opinion, but certainly wins on taste. 👌🏻 . 🔹️Panna Cotta ($10++): The pudding is so soft & wobbly that it gives the perfect jiggle! 😍 Full-blown on the taste of milk 🍼 & cream, the accompanying berry sauce with a nice tang & sweet crunchy brittle adds some excitement to the dessert. 💕

Magharita D.O.C. ($26) This new pizzeria's signature is a simple pizza, but less is more, especially for authentic Neapolitan pizza — the key is in fresh quality ingredients. The woodfire baked crust achieved an immaculate ratio between airy crispiness and chewiness, and their mozzarella, basil and cherry tomatoes are top notch (evident from the D.O.C. label). - Gotta say though, the doughy middle portion soaks up too much of the sauce and tomato juice, causing structural integrity issues — it flops and ingredients fall easily

Oh dear, the weekend is gonna fly PASTA again! ✈✈✈ Gotta treasure my Sunday! ❤ I am usually not a fan of cream-based PASTAs as they can get really heavy & surfeiting. 🤣 However, this Fettucine with shrimp in lemon cream sauce ($22++) at @pizza_logic_sg eased my worries! ✌🏻 . The tangy lemon zest 🍋 was pretty refreshing, making the cream sauce lighter on the palate. ✔ Coating every strand of pasta, the luscious sauce rendered an extremely creamy mouthfeel. Topped with springy prawns 🦐 & caviar for that luxurious touch, this was a winner! 💯 . Fans of tomato-based pastas 🍅 can try their Paccheri with Neapolitan meat sauce ($22++), which comes with a generous amount of meatballs & spare ribs! 🍝 The paccheri in tube shape was pretty new to me - reminded me of mee hoon kueh but thinner & smoother! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Albeit not fall-off-the-bone tender, the spare ribs were extremely flavourful & sufficiently succulent. 😋 . For meat-lovers or those on Keto, you can go for their Thin sliced Italian steak Tagliata ($32++), which features a slab of steak 🥩 topped with crisp Arugula & cherry tomatoes 🍅, drizzled with olive oil & balsamic vinegar. 👌🏻
