If you're a big fan of mentaiko like me, this is AMAZEballs! You can never go wrong with aburi mentaiko; paired with the juicy pan-fried dumplings, I just couldn't get enough of it! Also available in other variations as well!
We were recommended by the waiter to try the lotus roots chips and while it was a little pricey for lotus roots, the dish was executed very well. Paper thin slices of fried lotus root chips, served with truffled mayo, this dish is addictive! The Bara Chirashi Don was also lovely with generous chunks of sashimi.
I only recently found out about this place at Media Circle and was pleasantly surprised that although it was pretty secluded, the restaurant/ bar was packed! There's really nothing much to complain about the food, the Unagi don was done nicely and being a fan of fried chicken, the succulent chicken Karaage in salted egg yolk dip was just lovely! Goes great with drinks as well.
I'm a regular at Creamier ice-cream and Sunday Folks has always been on my to-go list but only managed to try it out recently. I love the fact that I can have my favourite flavours in soft serve! While the pre-selected toppings were pretty interesting, it would have been even more awesome if they let us pick our own toppings.
I've tried Clinton St in Tokyo and immediately fell in love with the pancakes and was excited when it came to our shores! Soft, fluffy stack of pancakes with banana, walnut and warm maple butter in one bite, ... Hmm, what's there not to like? The humongous portion, maybe. Definitely one of the best pancakes around!
The scrambled eggs here is slightly different from your usual fare. The dish came with a bed of fluffy scrambled eggs, with sautéed mushrooms, rosti and sausage. Overall recommended!
Exploring the east and found this quaint lovely cafe. Wanted to try their much-raved about Hon Dashi Risotto, but alas, it was already sold out by the time we were there. The poached eggs was an interesting dish with 2 perfectly runny eggs on a bed of mashed potato puffs, crab meat and chopped olives.
Came here to try out their beef bowl as recommended by Burpple Guide, and this dish truly did not disappoint! Love love the medium rare char grilled hokubee beef and runny egg on top of japanese furikake rice. Reminds me so much of the beef in Japan!
Love the fact that they used mee Sua instead of pasta, as the mee Sua takes in the seafood bisque in very well without being soggy, so that each mouthful is a burst of flavor and texture. The dish truly tastes as good as it looks, and they don't skimp on the shrimps and scallops as well.
Though tucked in a relatively quiet neighborhood in a seemingly 'abandoned' mall, 23 Jumpin was buzzing with life on a lazy weekend. There's limited amount of space so it's likely that you have to queue. But the food and the coffee is really good, do try it out if you're around the area at Tai Seng.
A lot of times you get truffle infused dishes that smells good but with only very subtle hints (or none) of truffle, but the truffle infused creamy pasta with mushrooms, bacons and sprinkles of Parmesan was lovely. I couldn't find any fault with the dish, though, it could be quite filling to eat it at one go.
Despite being tucked away at a relatively quiet area, 23 Jumpin was packed with people! Maybe it was because it's a public holiday, but we definitely enjoyed the food that we ordered. The honey paprika wings are a must-order! It's finger lickin' good and the dripping fragrant honey just adds to the oomph!
