Founded by the team behind Senso which has now closed, Coucou is an upscale Swiss restaurant with a cosy outfit. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and reminds me of the time I was in Switzerland during winter, getting warmth from the stone fire place.
Came here with my family for a birthday celebration and ordered a few dishes. Of the many dishes, the one that stands out is the Tartare de Boeuf - Beef Tartare Prepared with Swiss Sbrinz Cheese, Rucola Salad and Tomato Marmalade.
In terms of price, it’s expensive - would classify this as an upmarket restaurant but not fine dining. If you’re looking to try a new cuisine, Coucou would be an interesting place but it’s not a place I would revisit.
Ordered:
1) Red Velvet Waffles
2) Charcoal Waffles
Have been to oblong many times and one of the go to orders would be red velvet waffles.
Came here for a birthday celebration & it was nice that they gave us candles.
Charcoal waffles did not taste very spectacular, just tasted like normal waffles. Can skip!
Ordered:
1) Minestrone Soup ($10)
2) Forest Mushroom Soup ($10)
3) 10 Inch Stone Baked Margherita Pizza ($18)
Location is good for alfresco dining although it was pretty warm for brunch.
When both soup arrived, it wasn’t hot enough - felt as though the soup sat out there for at least 5mins before serving. Taste wise, forest mushroom soup was ok, minestrone soup was too salty to my liking - wouldn’t order it again.
Pizza was okay, they give you the option to have 2 flavours - half each.
Overall, would only dine at Prive - specifically Keppel Bay if I want alfresco dining with a sea view
Ordered:
1) Steak & Mash
2) Egg & Avocado
The serving for the Steak & Mash is huge - a struggle for 1 person to finish, although for the price point I would expect more steak slices.
Likewise for the egg & avocado, would not pay so much for it.
Food is good but pricey; expensive healthy food 😩
Dishes Ordered:
1) Salmon Grain Bowl
2) Prawn Aglio Olio
3) Truffle Fries
4) Matcha Latte
Quaint little cafe located in a residential area, the cafe has a very homely vibe.
Dishes are not too bad; pleasant enough. Truffle fries aren’t trufflely enough. Price point is your typical cafe pricing.
This place is not the most accessible without a car.
My order:
Matcha Rock Salt Macchiato 25%
As the name infers, the macchiato is salty which personally I think is a weird combination with matcha. Though it’s not bad a drink overall - at 25% the matcha is not too sweet & not too bitter.
Also liked the texture of the drink - probably due to the macchiato when mixed in, gives the drink a thicker texture.
Ordered:
1) Chocolate Bananas - it was more towards the spongy side. For someone who likes their cake fudgy/moist, this wasn’t it. But it has chocolate chunks in it which is a 👍🏻
2) Cold Brew White Coffee - Yas!! Would order it again. Creamy with a hint of chocolate without compromising on the taste of the coffee. Bonus was the promotion of 2 bottles for $10!! Steal!!
