Yummy laksa @janggut_laksa! Can't be bothered with whoever is the true originator of Katong laksa but will say one thing, i prefer this over 328 across the st. Fresh coconut milk does indeed make a difference. Def one of the best laksa's in SG!

Pros: Fresh coconut milk. Unique pale looking soup which is so intense. Love the eggs! Air-con place.
π΄
Cons: Too rich, unable to finish. Very jelat. I can never finish a bowl of laksa (any) without feeling nauseous π©

OneKM outlet: My fav coconut ice cream from @320below π (& i don't even like coconut)

Pros: Not too sweet & freshly made on the spot. Smoke caused by nitrogen is fun to look at π
Fav flavour: coconut & choc mint.

Cons: Not all flavours are nice. Don't like the cookie one. Longer waiting time, espc peak hr.

Never have i posted a consecutive post of same place, diff day dining. My 1st try was so amazing i just had to return @themassessg, but 2nd visit was disheartening π Don't get me wrong, food was still good; but did not have that WOW-za factor, very underwhelming. Fortunately, final 2 dishes of chicken & dessert salvaged the situation and left feeling satiated.

π
Pros: Price is reasonable. Chicken tasted plain, but flavour grew on quickly (dip chicken in puree & bacon bits), best dish of the night. Yummy camembert dessert, but batter was thick & unevenly coated. Octopus was ok, not as smokey tho.
π
Cons: Eggs was a tiny bowl with less than 1cm high of steamed egg topped with chips??? & too much fish roe (not enough steam eggs to balance saltiness). Being a hardcore Italian crab pasta lover, i'm aware i can't compare as it's not the same in style & price, but C&C pasta was a joke. Tasteless mushy cold pasta with barely there crab meat & don't get me started on the "caviar"π Plates were oily/damp to touch. Just, why?

Price: S$71.44 - 2pax, just nice
New restaurant alert π£ Inventive/experimental/fusion cuisines aren't usually my cup of tea as they tend to overpromise yet underdeliver, to the point i could no longer be bothered with it. But hats off to @themassessg, they have done an excellent job, at very good price-points. Throughly enjoyed my meal there, thanks in-part to the lovely and friendly service.

Pros: Food was awesome. Very reasonable prices, i would say value-for-money even. I can't get over how good the burrata was! π Whenever there's grilled octopus, i'll be sure to order it & this didn't disappoint.
π
Cons: Small space. When i 1st saw the menu, didn't know "how" to order as it seemed boring. Salmon? Checked. Truffle fries? Checked. Egg? Tomato? (Lucky for us, was patiently introduced to all the dishes, one by one). Pork loin was nice, but my least favorite as it dried out rather quickly. Did not like the chicharron with it.

Price: S$62.15 - 2pax, just nice
Parkway outlet: My most frequented Chinese restaurant @putien_sg π I like it because their food is very clean tasting & dependable. This is my least fav outlet though, Kitchener is the best, followed by NEX. Very stingy with ingredient quantity, meat dumplings considerably lesser here. Fish was really fishy (not fresh) & many bones.
Price: S$107.30 - 3pax, just nice, but could do without the fish
Finally visiting a super trending cafe @southunionpark for once π (im usually late in the game haha). Overall food is really good. Familar ingredients with a unique twist. But doubt i will ever become a regular patron. Not smth i will have mad cravings for.

Pros: Fast service. Food was tasty, chef sure can cook! π Well-complemented sides. Salmon larger than expected. Loved the yogurt ice cream atop the dessert.
π
Cons: Steep prices at such a location/venue AND wasn't full after my main dish πNo outdoor seats (residential area), super noisy can't wait to leave. Food is not my "style", tad bit pretentious. Didn't like coconut polenta with the pork (i don't like coconut in general), don't feed me gruel π’
P.S. lighting suxs

Haven't had that many prawn noodles before to know what's really good - but i like this one. Prefer to order dry with separate soup though, so the flavour is unadulterated.

Pros: Fresh prawns, generous ingredients. Pork ribs not dry. Flavoursome soup that's not too "thick" or "gao". Cons: Inconsistent. Flavour of soup varies from strong to weak. MSG. Long q during peak hrs.
Price: S$5 - clams with prawn
Yummy! Back at @gimmy4fingers for my delicious rice box! Refer to recent review (21 Feb) for more info.

Pros: No MSG used. Loved the rice, sauce & kimchi slaw. We exchanged 1 tofu and drumstick & rice box became a good balance!
Cons: Tofu quite weird - sourish & stiff. Drumstick rice box don't have kimchi slaw included - it's super spicy so i can't finish if place a sparate order.
Price: S$17.40 - Tofu & drumstick rice box, ice milo
My grandma used to sell Hainanese chicken rice & have been eating it since young. Therefore, it's become one of my fav foods! If you are at Hougang Green, can try out this chicken rice stall, not too bad.

Pros: Classic style chicken rice. Rice & soup is fragrant. Not too heavy on MSG. Char siew is π, i always ask for less fat. Generous portion of meat for 2.
Cons: Chicken was quite dry today - usually pretty tender. It's too salty, oily and sweet for some but i like strong flavours so ok for me. Not smth i will travel down for (but char siew π & will pack home if i'm around the area). Utensils oily & dirty, don't think food is very clean as well even by hawker standards, no wonder it tastes good? π
Price: S$9 for everything pictured
AMK outlet: @mellbensignature is a long-standing & well-known place for crabs without the fuss of a fancy restaurant setting. They were really killin' it years back, but now it just doesn't have that satisfactory value attached to it. Still good though!

Pros: Really tasty π Love the crab bee hoon soup! Crab meat is very sweet. Green dragon veg yummy but overpriced @ $15 π Sambal lala sauce nice, not very spicy - but i think true sambal lovers will be disappointed.
Cons: MSG is too much. Long queues during dinner time (only AMK). Standard is dropping & inconsistent among diff outlets. Taste-wise, AMK is my fav. Cannot stand the majority of their staffs attitude. "Seafood" restaurant, but only left with lala & crabs for shelled seafood?! π Lala isn't fresh. I'm pretty certain crab weight is less than what they claim (my uncle used to sell crabs so quite familiar), but as usual, just have to suck it up if iβm gonna dine there π

Finally came to try out this popular cafe @whiskandpaddlesg ! Was holding back for quite awhile due to countless bad reviews regarding service & overpriced food. But decided i just want to relax, not for any good food & was plesantly surprised π

Pros: Very prompt service! Fast & seamless even when place was fully packed. Water served without requesting. Nice surroundings, bright & airy. Drinks were well-done! Love the soft, gooey & well fried cheese π Mac n' cheese not the best but better than most places - don't mind ordering again.
Cons: High seating table had lots of ants & bugs. Avoid the weekends if you don't like screaming children. Parking a nightmare.
Price: S$46.37
With the reviews i'm doing, it's hard for flaws not to be amplified in my mind nor to be nit-picky about things π Seeing their raving reviews online vs what i think, @onemancoffee has seriously confused me. It's unfair to be as critical, given that this was an @ubereats_sg delivery, but i didn't enjoy the food.

Pros: French toast was a brioche which was quite good (but as a brioche lover, not good enough). Strong truffle oil taste in cream cheese croissant.
Cons: Affordable but doesn't mean it's value-for-money. Simple ingredients, done in a very average way. Expected a better croissant - it was thick & not flaky. Sweet potato fries were... ππ For $13, french toast seems overpriced. Everything apart from the breads tasted inferior & processed. I get itβ¦ it's a cafe. But way better options out there.
Price: S$27 - Ham & truffle cream cheese croissant, French toast w berries & mascarpone, @ubereats_sg delivery
