Burpple can pls have some basic requirements for vendors to be on the deal? When we finally made it to the kiosk (part of cou cou hotpot), the service staff informed us the 1 for 1 can only be used for one single flavour - jasmine green milk tea with pearls. Very disappointing and unacceptable given that burpple is a paid membership scheme. Since we already walked all the way we just ordered 4, and all of us found the drink very subpar. Tea flavour was weak and the creamer taste was overpowering, mini pearls were not well cooked too. Will not recommend.
Bubble tea is legit nice and very reasonably priced (came in a 700ml cup and includes free pearls), staff were very kind and friendly. Ordered Tan Milk Tea (activated charcoal with oolong) - 25% was just nice, tea taste was robust and not overpowered by the milk. Taro Milk Tea (cannot choose sugar level) - it's sweeter than Tan Milk Tea but acceptable too (I usually drink 0 or 25% sugar), the Taro flavour was wonderfully strong and not diluted like some other brands. Both cups came with free brown sugar pearls, which were still warm and had an excellent chewy texture. When the staff realised that the pearls were missed out in our initial order, they were very kind and generous to offer to replace the entire cup for us. Will definitely visit again, great spot to chill in Hougang. :D
Lovely spacious Peranakan-style cafe with the sweetest staff ever, ideal for both chilling and working. Prices are a steal considering the location (near Dhoby Ghuat MRT) and spacious air-con environment.
Everyone from Uncle Steven, Kelvin, the manager and supervisor were so kind, warm and welcoming. Came here for lunch (the miso salmon was delicious and value for money at only $12.80 for two big pieces, with potato mash and fresh veggie), and stayed the entire afternoon to work. Kelvin and Uncle Steven were so so kind to keep bringing us water, their signature sambal chilli, and even replacing my tea bag for free when he realised that my tea was getting diluted. Never experienced such hospitality in Singapore before, and we felt so welcomed despite staying from 1pm till 7pm, and Uncle Steven even went to re-arrange tables for us so we could access the charging point.
The cakes were amazing too and very reasonably priced ($4.50 per slice), we had 3 Yuzu cheesecakes at one go, it was moist and light and a good balance between sweet and tart. Ondeh ondeh cake is also very good with the pandan, gula melaka and coconut flavours coming through well.
This is also a social enterprise hiring people with special needs, hence every dollar you spend here is contributing to a good cause. Very heartwarming experience, my second visit already and will definitely be back! :)
Used the Burpple one-for-one and ordered the Burrata Pizza ($26) and Pork Bolognese Garganelli ($28). Both the pasta and pizza tasted really good despite being simple and clean. The pizza dough was memorable as it had a great crispy crust and good chew although it is a thin crust. Perhaps a small bone to pick was that the pizza was served rather lukewarm (may be due the cold Burrata in the centre?) and the service was also quite, well, lukewarm. Leaves much to be desired from an establishment at this price range. Also do note that there was no 'free drink and house salad' with 'any main course from the lunch a la carte menu' as stated at the bottom of their lunch menu page, not sure if it's just due to Burpple redemption but I did not spot any house salads on the tables around us.
The selection is extensive, food choices healthy (I.e. cauliflower rice) and yummy, and staff really warm (; Value for money too
The whole experience was like dining in at a relative's place~ very homely feel. The food was awesome, and ambience just right. Price was way reasonable for the quality of food. Highly recommend!
Poor service albeit decent food. Coffee was weak like the service. Server was pompous if anything. Interior overtapped on artificial lighting although it was broad daylight and natural lighting could easily stream in through the whole glass panels.
