Orh Gao Taproom - Craft Beers Pick from ten rotating craft beers on tap here. Beer enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice, you can even sample the beers before committing to one if you’re feeling overwhelmed! I got the Rouge; a brown ale that features “hazelnuts and brown nectar” which completely hit the mark and delivered on those flavours! I hear their range of beers changes frequently, so you might find your choices completely different when you head down, but I’m sure there’s something for everyone.

Always Something New As Orh Gao rotates their beers weekly & it *has* been a while since I was last here, the 10 beers on their menu were mostly new to me. 1 of them was even sold out (wow). The ones that left the most lasting impression on me: Rum on the Rye Sea Monster by Ballast Point, an Imperial Stout (rOyaLtY~) that is intense, flavourful, & solid gold. Aged in Woodford Rye & Caribbean Rum Barrels, it has a subtle sweetness with candied spice, vanilla & chocolate notes. Goes down smooth & velvety, a good one to end the night with. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the Zeffer Cider's Apple Crumble Cider as well. I have never taken to ciders, finding them too sweet. But this one smells like freaking apple crumble, & tastes like it too. Very refreshing & goes well with desserts. Thanks Sam & Orh Gao Taproom for the hospitality, & Burpple for the invite! 💕 💳 Accepts credit cards 🌬 Air-conditioned seats available ☀ Al fresco seats available 🖥 Accepts reservations on Hungrygowhere 🍽 Burpple Beyond partner 🙋🏻‍♀️ Service charge applicable 🚫 No GST

Lemon And Herb Whole Chicken 21.9nett Dont really taste the Herb and lemon, and i loved that. It's more like a well brined flavourful chicken which is rlly up my alley. For those who arent feeling the more punchy flavours of the original chili(which isnt spicy either tho)

Portuguese Flame Grilled Chicken ($6.90/$11.90/$21.90) When someone at a table brings up Australia, one can often stereotypically imagine sepia-tinted views of the scorched barren panorama, surfers riding the high tides in slow-motion, the kangaroo mafia clad in boxing gloves and palm-sized tarantulas at every corner. In the secluded chambers of my skull where genius meets insanity, I’m just thinking of Coffin Bay oysters, John Dory by the ocean and Margot Robbie. - And then there is Oporto, hailing from Bondi Beach, Sydney as a Portuguese flame grilled chicken chain. In my heart of hearts, I have always been one for franchised poultry restaurants as comfort food for the guilty soul. So when I first discovered the outlet bustling at the epicentre of the village, I had to try it. - The classic African-Portuguese chicken can be characterised by its piquant flavours, commonly achieved by marinating the chicken with piri-piri (Swahilian for ‘pepper’) chilis and other spices. Oporto offers their signature Portuguese Flame Grilled Chicken ($6.90/$11.90/$21.90) with a brush-basting finish of either Chilli or Lemon & Herb Sauce. Maybe my expectations of an off-the-grill chicken drumstick that glistened in its own juices were driven higher by a growing appetite, but the swift anti-climax of a dry, under-seasoned chicken left me surprised to say the least. The kick of the piri-piri chilis was apparent on the surface. However beyond the first discernible layer of flesh on the bone, it was seemingly missing from the equation. - Their famous Bondi Burger ($5.90/$7.90/$9.90) came with a thin and rather dry chicken fillet, with an additional $2 for a supplementary fillet. For an established chain restaurant that prides itself on its chicken and its Bondi Burger, evidence points to the contrary when it comes to succulent and flavourful poultry. For a burger that claims to be legendary in nature, it presents itself as a lack thereof.

Chili Crab Pasta ($18) Fettuccine was a little soft but still had a decent bite and sauce was nice (slightly tangy, a little spicy and pretty eggy)! 🤤🤤 Chili crab came in a pretty generous piece but was not as crispy as I expected. Everything tied in pretty nicely and definitely a satisfying pasta, especially at this price point and with Burpple Beyond 👍🏻👍🏻

Honey BBQ Babyback Ribs ($20) Quite impressed by the portion?? At just $20, there were about 8 pieces of ribs and the ribs were actually better than decent 👍🏻👍🏻 Nicely glazed with a good amount of sweet honey BBQ sauce, the ribs were pretty decent - not too dry though not fall off the bone tender. Thai-inspired salad wasn’t anything special - the lotus root lost its crisp and wasn’t that flavourful, and the salad dressing was slightly lacking. Definitely a worthy meal (especially with Burpple Beyond) and since babyback ribs tend to be priced higher despite the smaller size but higher fatty content. Do try before the burpple vouchers expire this month in September! 😋😋
