Army Stew [17 Feb 2020] I can't remember if this was the spicy chicken stew or Wonda's army stew, but i reckon it's the latter because I would be keen to order if it's listed as army stew in the menu. Anyway it looks like army stew too so yeah. Basically it's a hearty pan of stew, filled with the usual ingredients you would expect in an army stew. I like how the cheese is folded in already! Initially I thought it wouldn't be filling, but I was wrong. And I was very satisfied by the flavours. It's so hard to find army stew for one, and I'm glad I have found this! Can't wait to go back and have another round after the CB is over! (and if they have cold noodles that would be the best, because I went there back then for the cold noodles.)

Sunset Cold Brew Tonic [17 Feb 2020] I found it quite adventurous to try such a combination - cold brew + orange juice - and I was really pleased to find it so refreshing! It's suitable to drink in the hot summer days because adding milk would make the drink heavier and can get jelak after a while.

Had a great lunch that day with friends at Two Cranes, a minimalistic Korean-fusion cafe located in the north east (Kovan) of Singapore. It was my first time visiting this cafe and the food certainly left a good impression. Highly recommend the Spicy Chicken Stew ($13.50), which is served with crab sticks, baked beans, luncheon meat, noodles, vegetables and rice cakes all simmering in a tasty broth. A hearty and affordable meal that’s good for sharing amongst 2! We also tried dishes like the Mix Rice Bowl ($12), Kimchi Fried Rice ($10), Chicken Wings ($12) and Glass Noodle Dumplings ($6) that certainly left us all belly-satisfied! If you’re looking for unconventional wallet-friendly cafe food in the heartlands, this is definitely a place worth checking out.

Colleagues Dragged Me Here And Changed My Life I’m very picky when it comes to Korean food (except Korean bbq) and few Korean spots in Singapore have managed to satisfy my stomach. Daejon House is one of the rare exceptions and they push out authentic Korean fare that’ll bring you straight to Korea itself. Ban Chan (side dishes) here are free flow, try not to eat too many before you enjoy the actual food (am guilty of this). I’ve had the army stew here twice and while the portion size isn’t as generous as I would like it to be, the concoction is hearty, hits all the right spots and warms you down to your bones. Very good for cold, rainy nights. Their Korean pancakes are also fantastic; perfectly crisp, not too oily, just the right amount of filling. Also recommend their dumplings which are very generously filled with ingredients and have a lovely, crisp exterior that gives off that satisfying crunch which we all love to hear when we bite into a fried dumpling. Have yet to try the rest of their menu and am excited to, especially their KBBQ. Setting is great for large gatherings too, highly recommend you come here with your friends and colleagues!

Spicy Beef Noodles This remains as my favourite dish here and perhaps the only one as the food seems to have dropped in overall standards. Love the noodles, very chewy and has a good texture to it. Similar to nipongnaepong. The soup has a wok hei taste to it and not too spicy. Sliced beef is soft and chewy. Overall, a must try at DaeJon House!

Seafood Pancake The seafood pancake used to be good. How it is just meh. The exterior crust is crispy but it is just tasteless deep fried flour. The seafood portion given is decent. Total $19.90 for a 10 inch pancake as compared to the usual big but flatter Korean pancake.

Seafood Chicken Pot (50% off w Beyond) Seafood chicken pot w spicy fragrant gravy $28.80 ($14.40 after burpple beyond 50% off) Added golden mushrooms $3.20 Super yummy and worth it with burpple 50% deal. Got the Spicy Fragrant gravy in 中辣 and it had the right level of kick. Chicken was tender (has bones but that’s normal for dishes like this), prawns and squid were fresh. M size is good for 2-3 people (3 if you’re small eaters). Worth a try and I’ll definitely be coming back!

Fat bird #BurppleBeyond 1-1 House Special Chicken Pot $17.90 Numbing & Fiery Chicken Pot $17.90 Spicy Chicken Cubes $13.80 Hot Plate Prawns $14.80 Total: $71+ Utilised 2 vouchers for 5 pax. Ordered 2 Chicken Pots (Small) and 2 mains and about 5 add-ons into the 2 pots. We preferred the spicy chicken pot over the house special as its more fragrant and the spicies really gave our taste buds a strong kick! Portion of chicken in both pots were alright and we find the side dishes are on the pricier side, like one portion of instant noodles cost $3.90. For the mains, the Spicy Chicken Cubes, the ratio of the dried chillis flakes to the small chicken cubes was like 15:1, but chicken was well fried and flavourful. I like the sauce of the Hot Plate Prawns, and it looked really appetitizing with the colourful condiments. Overall, Beyond made it a fairly good deal especially when dining with friends since the price is on the higher side.

Delicious Alternative To Kaoyu Somewhat similar to kaoyu, where you can choose the gravy and other add ons. Highly recommend the Spicy and Fragrant chicken pot (it's not very spicy 😊)! Burrple 1 for 1, with additional add ons, is sufficient for a group of 4 pax.
