The medium rare steak was quite tender with a bed of fresh avochimmichurri, accompanied by charred asparagus and potato salad. Suitable for a light meal dinner. Paired it with a glass of red wine and you’re set for the night.

Blackened Barramundi ($34++) Both my boyfriend and I were very unimpressed by this...Yes it’s good (or honestly just alright) but nothing to shout about and definitely not worth that price tag. Even with burpple it’s a pass Nice vibes and service though (and pizza still gd)

Brisket Cheese Burger Pizza ($26++) Had this w burpple near christmas! Very well done, and rly tastes like how a cheese burger would haha. The beef is also not tough and chewy and loved the crust~ Decent size as well Wld recommend getting this

Yoghurt Jelly W/ Blueberries, Part Of Weekday Set Lunch ($25) To silence the call of our dessert stomach, we were offered yoghurt jelly with fresh blueberries. Light, refreshing and a good end to a heavy meal. I can finally see why there’s so much buzz about this place; from sharing a long table with other guests to idly watching the chef bumble about in his element, the whole session is an intimate dining experience that will undoubtedly keep one coming back.

Carbonara W/ Pasta Made In House, Bacon And Grated Parmesan. Part Of Weekday Lunch Set ($25) For the main, we got carbonara! The creamy pasta, touched by swirls of olive oil and covered first in crisp, juicy bacon, then a smattering of grated Parmesan was divine. On the first bite, I’d think even the most errr gastronomically-challenged person can intuitively tell that the pasta is made in-house; each strand is highly irregular, with a dense floury texture that is a welcome change from the mass-produced smoothness that we’re so used too! Coupled with the generous portion, we were surprisingly stuffed by the end!

Finally Dining At This Conclave!!! Went For Chef Javier’s Weekday 3-Course Set Lunch ($25) What better way to end a week than with a meticulously prepared meal by one very talented individual at this cosy hole-in-the-wall restaurant? Still can’t believe impatient me actually managed to wait a MONTH to dine here...but I guess it made the lunch all the more satisfying😚 For starters, we were served a charcuterie plate comprising champagne ham, pâté (made with ground pork, cognac and pistachio) and a hunk of focaccia. The cold cuts did whet my appetite but what stole the show really was dat thick, doughy, chewy lightly oiled focaccia with a consistency true to European bread - I could almost taste the blood, sweat and TLC put into kneading and baking it (figuratively ofc, no one likes the taste of sweat). Next time I go, please serve me a whole basket’s worth ok?😉

Seafood laksa paste spaghetti with an added side of grilled barramundi. The fish was fresh and clean tasting, and grilled to a nice golden brown crust with soft steamy insides (see pic 4). The laska paste spaghetti was awesome: It could well have tasted odd with pasta, but it didn't. The light and creamy sauce (easy on laksa leaves, easy on the sambal) went well with the pasta and the seafood, and was delicately balanced so that the dish was tasty as a pasta should be, not overwhelmingly rich in deep local flavours, or overly lemak (in the coconut sense) or too spicy. Any of these oversights would have turned it into a bowl of laksa instead. Naw... Twas like a cat's meow. Purrfect! And yeah, the onsen egg was just thrown in for good measure!

A #blondebrownie A refreshing new (new to me at least) take on brownies, which proved to me, a chocolate lover, that unbelievably: brownies rock on, beyond chocolates. This 'blondie' was indeed everything a brownie should be: warm, nutty, crusty, crunchy, soft to the bite. Except that it tasted of fragrant honey (yup, not vanilla, honey) rather than chocolate.

Grilled Seabass Rice I still remember my first visit was when they are still in Tanjong Pagar. Since then, they have moved to this location at Jurong East. A walking distance from the MRT Station, it was empty when I visited during the weekend evening. For their grilled seabass, you can choose your choice of sauce with either lemon thyme butter or soy glaze. You also can request to add egg.

Probably will keep thinking of the fried chicken for awhile First things off the bat, the Signature Tenderthighs ($13) is DAMM GOOD. Piping hot straight out of the fryer, we could already tell that this was gonna be a treat. The crust was extra extra crunchy, and you better not leave it aside - the batter was so damn flavourful and unique with the Chinese-y taste of clove and five spice. The chicken was so juicy and tender and I loved the tinge of sweetness from the caramelised outer layer. Overall, amazing fried chicken and easily one of the best in Singapore. This will be on my mind for the next few weeks. We also had the Angus Cheeseburger ($16) which was honestly pretty good. The beef patty was bursting with flavour and juices, with the buttered brioche buns firm with a crisp outer layer. Unexpectedly delicious. Don't scoff at the fries too, the oregano spices have it an interesting and unique twist that worked pretty well!

Fried Tenderthighs @$14 NEWest is a mix development located along West Coast Drive, with a Plethora of F&B establishments which includes a handful of Burpple Beyond Merchants. Birdfolks is one such establishment, with a 1for1 for their Signature Fried Chicken or main plates. We decided to have their signature Fried Tenderthighs, and a mentaiko Chicken Burger. The Fried Tenderthighs comes with 3 large strips of Fried Chicken Thigh Meats, fries and salad greens. The Mentaiko Chicken Burger comes with only 2 Strips, but comes with brioche Buns and a generous amount of Mentaiko Sauce. And also comes with Fries. The Fried Tenderthighs are definitely more value for money @$14. The fried chicken thigh strips tasted really good, tasted like it was well marinated with herbs and spices. It was damn crispy and the chicken fillets were damn juicy. For the 1for1, definitely value for money for me.

Spicy Mala BBQ Ribs ($25.90 For 350g) Interesting mala glaze that wasn’t too oily/spicy but definitely had a strong taste of mala. Ribs were pretty tender and well glazed, but portions was a little small for the price at this kind of setting. Sides of French fries and corn were nothing special and definitelly not worth the 1h wait 😕😕

Honey Rum Ribs ($25.90 For 350g) The honey glaze was very nice with the tender ribs (but not fall off the bone tender, just not as dry as some other places), but this was a little smaller than what I expected for the price! If you do end up eating here, this is definitely the rib to order. Sides of onion rings and coleslaw were very average and not impressive in portion size. Definitely do not think the quality of the ribs is worth the 1h wait nor the price at a HDB-foyer-type restaurant (and service was a little dismissive), you can definitely get better value elsewhere for the same quality 😢😢

KEK Platter Just found out that KEK has another outlet at Pandan Gardens which is definitely less crowded than the Alexandra one. Check out their platter ($32) and sambal kangkong ($10) which are 👍👍! We ordered the salted egg sotong too. If you think the platter is too much, you should definitely try their Mingzhu roll and prawn ball! Total damage for 5 adults including drinks: $66.40. P.S. I saw that they have some fusion burgers like marmite pork burger, prawn paste chicken burger etc. Price looks reasonable too!

the original Ye Shang Hai 90 year old uncle and his son has moved to 115 Bukit Merah View S151115 with the new name of Ri Ye Ong! spotted him by coincidence at the hawker centre and spoke to him only to find out that he lost his store name and had to shift! so do support him if you can and spread the word :) the food is still really good and affordable and the standard still remains the same! do look out for the old uncle at the store ◡̈

Teochew Porridge Ran out of places to eat late at night and decided to give this a try. They are located under a HDB block selling very affordable and good Teochew porridge till wee hours. We ordered 2 bowls of porridge with minced pork patty, bitter gourd, lala and peanut to feed two bellies and we were surprised at how cheap our total bill ($6) was. They also provide condiments like tau cheo (salted fermented soybeans), chilli and braised sauce. Not the best tasting Teochew porridge but I will still come back for the affordable price paid for such quality.
