Yakiniku set comes with salad and miso soup. It's perfectly done, the meat is very tender and evenly grilled. The serving is good and the sous vous egg just adds more delights to the bowl.

Saw a jap charcoal grill eatery with the familiar name Washoku Goen while waiting at tanjong pagar plaza. The receipt printed Yakiniku Oh instead. They are not selling some similar ramen like the stalls in vivo or city square, but only limited sets meals. I guess the main attraction is their charcoal grill which I'll come another day. This curry katsu don is huge come in set of salad and miso soup. No ++ so it's a plus point too. The chicken is crispy but juicy within, the curry is not as sweet as other jap curry, which blends well with rice. It's a big serving good for 2, but I'm not sharing cos it's so oiishi that I could finish all even though I am already full.

香ē…Žę¤°ę±å¹“ē³• Pan-fried Nian Gao 3pcs @ $3.00, First sight is like oh gosh, what is this? No one is picking it up...So who ordered it must eat....blah blah blah.. Aha, it's me, so then it shall be me. First bite, it's like pretty tantalising, not overly sweet, a bit chewy, a bit sticky, soft texture of a nian gao with searing edges. It is now in my favorite timsum lists.

粄师父 is one of our favorite porridge stalls, a well hidden gem in the west. The porridge is always served in the perfect Goldilockian temperature. Personally i prefer my porridge to be smooth, consistency with soft grainy texture instead of in gruel watery form nor a baby paste food alike. The porridge never fails to meet this. The price is considerably cheap for a stall in the coffee shop. The porridge master is generous with the ingredients and condiments that i can shovel in every spoon. The sliced fish porridge is priced at $3 and the century egg with either chicken or pork is $2.50. This bowl of mixed innards is $3.50.

Their penang fried kuay teow and stir fried laksa both at $9.80++ are really good, but this XO seafood fried rice $12.80++ won us over. The dish is packed with generous ingredients and a subtle charring aroma. I like the way the rice is piled up in a pyramid shape. The serving is good for 2 persons.

I personally will not order mock dishes in vegetarian restaurant. However being a recommended dish, here it is - The Spicy Grilled Codfish@ $18.8++ is a nicely cooked mock dish, served piping chilliest hot on a hotplate and left my mouth blowing hot. Perhaps it's not a dish for someone who doesn't eat spicy food but it's still missing some oomph for us who love spicy food.

It's like a best of both world. This black and white fried carrot cake which is powered by Chye Poh and black soy sauce, with traces of fish sauce instead of radish, is selling at $5. I would return for the black one anytime as I have sweet preference although the crispy white is pretty good. In fact, I return immediately to pack 2 for takeaway after wiped up this plate. A note to place order from this stall - the husband and wife team is hearing impaired. You just have to point to your choice from the three pics on the counter, then point to the value you want and finally point to the chilli with a nod or a shake. Don't worry if you miss any, they will point the pic to ask you instead.

We have been the commonwealth D'life bistro many times and are happy to find one outlet in the west. This sweet and sour mushrooms dish ($10) is a must order on our every visit. You wouldn't miss meat here..

Yeah, it's true that there's always a space for dessert, especially waffles!! The van cashew flavor ice cream blends very well with the waffle which has the well balance of crisp and fluff.

Unpretentious cafe serving comfort food at reasonable prices. The chicken with bbq sauce is one impressive main, the meat is tender and well marinated. We have lemon meringue, apple pie and the waffle which topped with van cashew ice cream was really amazingly delicious. We will definitely come again!

The TCC affogato is our must-order until it's removed from their menu. So we are so excited when we heard the opening of this first Asia affogato bar. Friends tried the sweet Banana Ramble andĀ i have this bitter Death by chocolate affogato. Quite impressive though, but we still hope tcc will put the affogato back on the menu.

Dean's specialty is this Chinese-style preserved turnip (preserved/salted radish) omelette horfun or better known asĀ chai poĀ horfun. This humble, dish at home is made special when fried with horfun, which i hope they could be more generous with the chai po.
