Soyo Japanese The Soyo Japanese is a Japanese inspired Hotdog Bun and fared better in my opinion, with spicy mayo, soy glaze, sweet onions and nori blanketing the Kurobuta Pork Sausage which was a lot more juicy and flavourful than its spiced chicken sausage counterpart. Pretty pricey for a bun, but made more affordable with Burpple 1 - 1!⁣

Torched Cheese Got the Torched Cheese Hotdog Bun, in which I could choose between Kurobuta pork sausage or spiced chicken sausage, I opt for the latter since im not a fan of pork. Topped with shiitake mushrooms, soy glaze and drizzled in triple cheese, the chicken sausage is tender and sandwiched between buns that are buttered and toasted to a slight crisp. It could get a bit dry after a couple of mouthful and I personally felt that this was not worth the price tag. Because of Burpple 1 - 1, I got the combo set and chose the Fresh Parsley Garlic Fries to go with it but it turned out to be a disappointment as there was barely any hint of garlic, and tasted just like any other normal fries out there.⁣

Hafu Chili Fries (4/5 ⭐) Hafu chilli fries ($5) The fries is good but not special, it's not that crispy but more to the soft side. The sauce is a hit like bolognaise + mayo and cheese, it's good but as expected the sauce only on top so when the top layer is gone we only have the normal fries. Great food and great service! The waitress are so nice and patient with us. Overall the food is great but the sauce might not to everyone's taste. The only dry Pencai we come across this year! Instead of it being braised, the Pen Cai from @MitzoSG is a dry rendition, with each item done separately and served together in the pot. This is quite different from the rest we had, and is surprisingly delicious.

Vanilla Puff Ever chosen a dessert purely on its looks? I have. This simple looking creation caught my eye with its clean aesthetics. Luckily, it tasted divine. Think of it as a refined cream bun (the texture's more bread than choux pastry) with a little secret core of (I'm hazarding a guess here) hazelnut ganache. Lovely with a spot of tea.

Roast Of The Day: Pork Belly Meet one of the most magnificent roasted pork bellies I've ever eaten in all its #nofilter glory. God knows how the chef elevated the crunchiness of the crackling skin to a whole new level while everywhere else, juicy tenderness reigned. The slab of sliced-partially-through meat was presented on a heap of deliciously slow-cooked lentils and accompanied by a bowl of Ronkin Farm Salad. The latter was really nicely done with fennel and French beans; it wasn't one of those that have a few leaves thrown together and have the gall to claim to be a "salad" 🙄 As this was an upgraded choice of main course for my set lunch, the bill came to about SG$50 which I consider very good value.

A Unique Baked Alaska "Bistrot B" at the Rosewood Beijing is helmed by Chef Jarrod Verbiak, a one-time protege of the world-renowned chef Daniel Boulud. Naturally, the standard of the food is stellar. "Baked Alaska" stands out for its core of refreshing passionfruit and raspberry sorbet. The light tartness of it rounded off deliciously by the thin layer of sweet meringue and soft, buttery pastry. Continuing the theme of summer (although we have slipped into early autumn) was the use of the naturally green Chartreuse Verte to flambé it. This French liqueur is supposedly made from over 130 types of plants and flowers - yes, I googled that 🤓 A gorgeous and delectable dessert for sure.
