It was enormously satisfying - from its scorched, crispy crust, to the uncommon topping of sliced Italian gourmet pork sausages and mushrooms. The tomatoes were a little too meek for my liking, but it was otherwise a great pizza to kickstart the week.

One of the stalwarts, however, is their Jjajangmeon, which is a must-have when dining here. For $12, you get a yuge bowl of al-dente yellow noodles slathered with a luscious coat fermented black bean sauce - very rich, slightly sweet, and brimming with onion strips. Would have been nice to have some minced pork too - which would make it an absolutely transformational, wicked dish.

In all honesty, we did enjoy the version we had here. The trade mark pork-ish aroma may be much milder; but their noodles are far less oily than their Katong counterparts - although they do offer free flow pork lard and fried garlic bits to jack up the flavours to your desired intensity. A decent option to those who are unwilling to make that long trek to the East for the real deal(s).

What immediately catches the eye is the perfect proportions of their burgers - not obstrusively-sized ones with the dimensions of a pandan cake, which usually results in a toppled, sorry mess. No, the burgers here are flatter and wider - bun, double patties, onions, lettuce and bread in an orderly fashion. The Oscar goes to the coarsely-ground patties, which packed a surprisingly strong punch without the trademark greasiness of its American counterpart. Also nominated are the raw circles of onions - for which I, not P, now have a newfound respect for - which added a new tangy, sweet dimension to it.

The ambience of the place was superb: Dimly lit and cosy, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows boasting a superb view of the entire Bugis area.

The food, however, was distinctly less memorable. With a woefully limited menu listing ordinary dishes like kung pao chicken and stir fried beef at exorbitant prices, we could be forgiven for having higher expectations. What we got, however, lacked the sophistication and nuance we were promised. The [Wok-fried Squid], for example, was decent on balance - but it came with a heavy fried batter and the chilli-garlic paste it was fried in was terrifyingly salty.
