Healthy lunch Healthy popiah and delicious soup for a satisfying lunch. My usual go to whenever I am craving for a lighter lunch.

Signature Souper Combo This is the third combination of popiah and soup I've tried from Souperstar. This is the 'Chef's Special' Caesar Chicken Popiah with the Souper Shroomy soup and it cost $10.30. The Caesar Chicken Popiah is stuffed with romaine lettuce, red onion, parmesan croutons, black olives, roasted chicken and hardboiled egg. It came with a Caesar dressing which I eliminated as I already had selected a cream based soup (I spooned the soup into the popiah with every bite so it would kind of taste like a dressing). It tasted...exactly like one would expect it to taste. A Caesar salad in a roll. Which I have no complaints about, because Caesar is one of my favorite type of salad. They had packed a generous amount of chicken and egg in the roll though, which I appreciated. Always a fan of their popiah skin too with its soft yet resilient texture. The mushroom soup was way too watery. I like my mushroom soup thick and kinda chunky. And it didnt have much of a mushroom taste at all. A pretty average, but not mindblowing meal. 6.5/10

Signature Souper Combo One of my favorite lunch places for a balanced, filling meal. This was the Sunny Carrot soup with the Wasabi Mayo Popiah wrap and genmaicha for the drink, costing $10.60 in total. The soup was a bright (almost artificial) orangey-yellow and looked very appetizing with chunks of carrot and crispy crackers floating on top. The sweetness of the carrot shone through and it was rich without being overly jelak. I like my soups a bit thicker (almost like a puree) so this was a tad too watery for me, but still quite a satisfying mouthfeel :) I preferred the sesame chicken popiah but still glad I tried this seafood wrap. Loaded with vegetables and a light drizzle of wasabi mayo, it also came with slices of steamed prawn, fish and tempura bits. I really liked the crunch of the tempura bits and veggies contrasted with the soft, starchy popiah skin which held together all the ingredients beautifully. And the wasabi mayo gave it that spicy kick to elevate an otherwise tasteless roll. Pro tip: for extra oomph and flavor, drizzle a spoonful of soup into the popiah with every bite!! The soup will drip into the vegetables and coat them without getting the popiah skin soggy :) 8/10

hangover burger ($22 nett), the armoury burger ($23 nett) thanks to burrple beyond we got 1f1 burgers!!! firstly the ambience of the place was rly chill, it was kinda like a bar + restaurant setting with free seating. the service crew were also all really enthusiastic to help us with our orders so that was nice! firstly i tried the hangover burger, which consisted of a wagyu patty with cheese, hashbrown and a fried egg. it felt like a breakfast burger which i’m not complaining about because it was so hearty and satisfying to eat :D the inclusion of maple syrup in its sauce also went well with the burger’s components! in my opinion, the armoury burger was the BOMBBB. it consisted of a double(!!😍) wagyu patty that were juicy and tender with loooots of cheese and i really really loved the dressing!!! idk what it was but it was v yummy hahaha. the buns were also soft and fluffy without being too dry! i usually do not expect much for the fries when the burgers are crafted with such effort but their fries were surprisingly exceeding expectations!! the thick-cut fries remained crisp on the outside while still being soft on the inside which i like, and paprika seasoning lent a mild spice. i’d come back in the future, given its close proximity to esplanade mrt (which makes it quite convenient if one is in the area)! plus the burrple beyond rly makes it soooo worth as everything totalled to only $11.50/pax, what a deal!! rating: 3.8/5

Garlic Basil Prawn Linguine ($23) Pasta was very well done! Would’ve been better if the prawns were fresher. All in all pretty good dish, try it if you’re a fan of aglio olio because it tasted quite similar to one (to me). The Armoury has very nice ambience, would recommend this to couples or groups of friends who want a place to chill at that’s not too crowded but offer good food options too.

Nice But Expensive This is the first PS cafe if i’m not wrong. It has a smaller seating area which makes it cosy. The service staff here are really great and friendly! They are attentive and really quick to get your requests seen to. I tried the Pesto laksa spaghetti which was really good and different from the usual.

Sticky Date Pudding Totally understand why this is one of the recommended dishes that keeps popping up in reviews. The sticky date pudding is served warm, and isn’t eligible for the 50% offer after 9pm, but it’s worth it even at full price. It’s a large pudding so it’s good for sharing. The sticky date pudding is super moist and yummy. There’re some pieces of dates inside which add contrasting chewiness to the soft pudding. The pudding itself isn’t that sweet, but it’s served in a sticky toffee sauce that was a little too sweet for my liking (although I do understand since it’s toffee). The toffee sauce went well with the pudding, and getting a mouthful of the pudding, sauce and vanilla ice cream was the ultimate trinity as the contrasting flavours and textures threw a party for my tastebuds.
