This stall on the second level of the hawker centre serves a tasty version of the classic sliced fish soup. Theirs has a generous amount of thinly-sliced bitter gourd and julienned fresh ginger. There is also quite a nice garlicky taste to the clear soup. Available in $3, $5 and $8, you have the option of adding fish eggs for $1 (but these run out quite fast so go early if you fancy some). They also have other types of fish soups made with pomfret or garoupa fish head.

Another stall at Maxwell that has gained a following is Jin Hua, serving bowl after bowl of steaming hot fish bee hoon. Whichever way you like your fish soup - milky or non-milky broth, sliced fish or fried fish - you'll be satisfied here. You can get fish head bee hoon here as well, if that's your thing. Tasty broth, a good serving of sliced or fried fish, noodles, complete with the addition of tofu, seaweed, vegetables, and tomatoes for slight sweetness make for a good, hearty meal.

Boss has now bought me an uncountable number of cups of coffee 😔 easily one of the best coffees in town with complex layers of flavours and a crazy smooth texture

We walked from Farrer Park tennis centre to Rouse, realised we were already so near Bugis that we might as well walk a little further to Chye Seng Huat. This is what post-training afternoons with SMU tennis are made of ☺️

We tried this because it was recommended by the staff and introduced as its signature beverage. Not sure this worked though - stirring the rose syrup into the coffee watered the flavour of the rose down so much. After a while, it tasted like just plain iced coffee. And also, i am rather anti-syrup 😣

A rich, full-bodied, almost chocolate-y quality. One of the most solid coffees i've had recently.
