It's my second time eating here, and this was a much better experience than my first! Ramen on a rainy day is a decision that could never go wrong, and today's meal was extremely satisfying 🤤

🍜 Ajitama-Uma Ramen ($14.90)
📌 9/10
🖍 The noodles were nice and firm, and the broth was extremely mouth-watering. I like that the soup isn't boiling hot, so the noodles aren't overcooked and soggy by the time I reach the end of the bowl. Rather, the soup is served at comforting warmth that doesn't burn my tongue, allowing me to appreciate the depth of the thick soup. The Cha-Shu was also really good, with a good meat-to-fat ratio. It was soft to the bite, and well flavoured. I found it to be a improvement from my first time here, where the pork belly was tough and bland. The egg was also cooked perfectly this time, with a gorgeous golden runny yolk. Bamboo shoots also added a lovely crunch to the meal.

🍗 Combo Set C ($4.90)
📌 9/10
🖍 Not pictured is the chicken karaage combo i added to my meal! Available from 11am-5pm, there are four different combos to choose from, featuring various sides and a cup of green tea. The karaage was nice and crispy without being too greasy, and was marinated really well.

🥓 Diced Pork Chashu ($0.00)
📌 9/10
🖍 A limited time offer I got using Jpassport, and it was a lot more than I expected. The chashu is really soft, almost a melt in your mouth experience. I polished off the plate really quickly because of how well done the sauce was!

I enjoyed my desserts so much that I opened up this app to write my first review! I heard a lot about Plain Vanilla previously, but never had the opportunity to try it until today. Sure enough, it lived up to the hype, and I'm already looking forward to my next trip down there!

What I had:
🍫 Peanut Butter Brownie $7
📌 7.5/10
🖍 Peanut butter and chocolate is a combo that never fails, so it wasn't surprising that this brownie was a hit. It reminded me of Hershey's Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, but more indulgent. I would have liked to try this item heated up, I somehow think it would taste better that way.

🧁 Earl Grey Lavender Cupcake $4.90
📌 8/10
🖍 My favourite out of the three items I tried! The cupcake itself was light and fluffy, reminiscent of a chiffon cake. The frosting was the right sweetness for me, and the notes of lavender were just right. It was slightly unfortunate that the frosting overpowered the cupcake itself, so I couldn't taste the earl grey as much as I did when I tried the cake alone. Both the frosting and cake still paired wonderfully together though, and I would love to have this again.

🍯 Chocolate Honeycomb Tart $7
📌 7.5/10
🖍 A really decadent tart that was carefully crafted. The filling to crust ratio could be better, as the milk chocolate started to come across as cloying after a few bites. Towards the middle, there were bits of honeycomb at the top of the tart and in between the filling and the crust. The honeycomb was truly the highlight of the tart, with the sweetness hitting all the right notes.

Overall, Plain Vanilla was a really good experience for my first time there, everything down to the service and the atmosphere was enjoyable! It's definitely a once-in-a-while indulgence though, at the price point it has.
