We had high expectations for the noodle chain.
.
We ordered the Shoyu soba and pork belly rice. The ramen came with the usual flavoured egg and bamboo shoots, and topped with truffle purée. The truffle purée gave the soup a different dimension, which was surprisingly palatable. However, the rest of the dish felt just like any other typical ramen. I have definitely tasted better ramens.

This is not your “Gao” matcha soft serve, but at $1.10, you can’t really complain. The ice cream has a floral taste, and tastes pretty good.

We were the only ones indoor while a few other groups had their dinner in the outdoor seating area.
•
We chose the dinner set which came with a choice of appetiser, main and dessert! We had the truffle mushroom soup, iberico pork, duck confit and creme brûlée.
•
The highlight was definitely the truffle mushroom soup, which was so rich and creamy, with an intense truffle flavour.
•
Mains were pretty decent, though I have tasted better duck confit and iberico pork.
•
All in all, a super value for money dinner. Somewhere to bring your date without breaking the bank.

This fish certainly did not die in vain. It’s our first time at Tan Yu. We chose the green pepper limbo fish since it was recommended by many. We also asked for 少麻 as we are not big fans of the numbing taste. We added the golden combination set (crabstick, enoki mushroom, potato and lotus root) to complete the meal .
.
The fish was amazing! It was fresh, juicy and tender, and went really well with the sauce. It was so good and we were trying to fish out every piece of meat.
.
We will definitely be back again to try the other options!

I would not have ventured to Shaw Towers without the Burpple app. And thanks to Burpple Beyond, we had a taste of our first Tom’s Palette ice cream.
.
Known for their quirky flavours like white chocolate nori (seaweed) and parmesan cheese, this ice cream shop was so crowded at dinner time. The 4oz ($5) comes with a choice of 2 flavours. I had to try the parmesan cheese and I chose to mix it with honey cinnamon. We also got the granny’s (Milo) and Roc Star (Ovaltine).
.
The parmesan cheese was savoury and surprisingly good, and it goes well since it’s essentially milk based too. However, it quickly became rather jelat for me. I really like the honey and cinnamon too, though it’s not as creative as the other flavours.
.
The chocolate based flavours that we chose were also really good, with big chunks of chocolate and biscuits.
.
This ice cream store is such a gem, do pop by soon, I heard it is closing down mid next year!

A short walk from Bishan MRT, this unassuming Italian Restaurant is located next to an industrial estate and rows of landed houses along Jalan Pemimpin.
.
It’s a small cozy restaurant, and it was packed on a Friday evening. We ordered the Funghi pizza and seafood linguine.
.
The seafood linguine was tomato based and it was delicious! The seafood was fresh and the pasta was cooked perfectly in the tangy tomato sauce.
.
The mushroom pizza was pretty basic and average. We were slightly disappointed as we heard good reviews about the pizzas. Nevertheless the portion was decent for the price.
.
We ended the meal with a tiramisu, which was not overly sweet and creamy. They didn’t have the durian tiramisu that many raved about. Perhaps this was not the right season for durians. But the normal tiramisu was good enough to make our bellies happy.
.
Overall, an authentic and lovely Italian restaurant that is worth visiting!

I love bandung, and McDonald’s version is pretty good. The strong rose floral taste hits you, followed by the usual milkiness of the classic vanilla cone. For just $1, I am definitely going back for more! .

I usually order the 2 pax set, which is large enough to share among 3 of us. The star of the dish must be the beef rendang, which was so tender that the meat just fell off the bone. The dish also comes with chicken curry, achar, potato patty and fragrant rice. .

.
I would recommend the big bowl ($5) for the extra ingredients. The noodles come with Chinese sausage, wanton, char siew, crispy pork lard, and vegetables. I love to add a spoonful of chilli flakes for the extra kick! The noodles are also springy and flavourful. Overall, a good bowl of wanton mee!
