The skin is thin, soft, smooth and oily and the filling is thick, dense and perfectly seasoned. I prefer the traditional flavours (particularly the green bean, yam, red bean and peanut) to the non-conventional ones like mango, pineapple & green tea, which tasted somewhat artificial. But the colours are so pretty, I just can't resist buying them all. πŸ˜πŸ˜†

The things that I appreciate the most in a Kaiseki meal are that the cooking process is kept at minimum and the food is never heavily seasoned so the original flavour of each ingredient will stand out. It is especially true for this meal that I had – none of the dishes was over the top and I could slowly savour every one of them in its purest form. I left the restaurant with a satisfied tummy, feeling all happy and healthy.

When I cut into the puff, I was delighted to see how thin the choux pastry was and the inside was just filled to the brim. That ultra smooth and creamy custard was redolent of matcha and the fragrance truly stood out but not in an overwhelming (or bitter) way. The custard wasn’t overly sweet and hence didn’t taste heavy or cloying. The choux pastry was light and airy which was another plus point. Even the pretty sugared flower was yummy too. πŸ˜‹πŸ‘πŸΌ

All I want to do now is to sit down, not care about anything else and enjoy all the BBQ meats to my tummy's content. Food therapy at its best. At only S$14.90++ per pax for their #koreanbbq weekday lunch buffet, I thought the selection of meats here was not bad. Totally ❀️ the bacon, bulgogi beef, marinated pork ribs & spicy chicken that were beautifully marinated and tasted excellent when paired with pickled radish & kimchi. The cooked food section wasn't spectacular but the crispy fried potatoes were pretty moreish. πŸ‘πŸΌ

Chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The combination of the sauce with the chicken, leek and dried chillies (spicy hot!) was AMAZING – the flavours and textures really worked in harmony. I normally don’t eat leek that much but in this dish, I couldn’t even taste that strong oniony flavour of it as everything was nicely balanced. Highly recommended dish - probably also one of the best #koreanfriedchicken I've had in SG.

While I enjoyed all of these, my favourite had got to be the yellow-green one right at the back. That was the Kueh Talam, made from pumpkin (yellow) and pandan (green). It had a lovely eggy flavour just like kaya. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ˜‹

Come to Makko Teck Neo, that's located in the quaint neighbourhood of Telok Blangah Rise. It serves up very homey & hearty Nyonya fare. Highly recommend the Dry Mee Siam, Ayam Buah Keluak, Ngoh Hiang, Nyonya Pork Chop, Fried Assam Prawns and Kueh Pie Tee. Gotta leave room for their Burbur Cha-Cha and assorted kueh kueh too. Extremely comforting meal.

Sashimi craving satisfied as always. Should I get it again tomorrow? πŸ˜†πŸ˜‹

I liked how crispy and crunchy the coins were on the outside. The chicken leg that swam in a robust, creamy gravy was also deliciously tender and juicy.

The mashed potato was very smooth, creamy & well-seasoned and the vegetables were done perfectly too. That sweet, salty and creamy sauce? It just bound every element on the plate. For maximum enjoyment, you would have to have a bit of everything in each mouthful. Delicious. πŸ‘πŸΌ
