Can only redeem one Category per meal Slightly disappointed as we thought we could redeem 3 categories under Burpple Beyond (Steamed, Congee & Pan-fried) but it turns out you can only redeem one category per Beyond subscription. We chose the congee of higher value. The Salted Egg Yolk Custard Buns were really good as they spam lots of salted egg lava and the fish congee is flavorful & homely. Xiaolongbao was okay. Japanese Dumpling (though recommended on the list) was slightly underwhelming and we don't recommend it. Honey BBQ Pork Buns were not bad but might be a bit too sweet for some. Overall still worth a hearty lunch meal! Spent $31 for 2 pax with the amount pictured above + the bowl of century egg congee not featured in the image.

Great Dim Sum, Value For Money We were so obsessed with these liushabaos (baked buns with custard filling) that we ordered another round later on. These from dim sum haus are so so good! Order it now and thank me later. 😊

Steamed Charcoal Chicken and Shrimp Dumpling ($4) Deal: Burpple Beyond 1-for-1 Dim Sum Haus is a small eatery tucked away in Jalan Besar and to be honest, I wouldn’t have known about it if it wasn’t on Burpple Beyond. But I’m so glad that I found out about it! I particularly like their Steamed Charcoal and Shrimp Dumpling, which is an interesting take on the usual Siew Mai. It is bigger than the average Siew Mai, and is topped with prawn roe which gives it a nice bite. The shrimp and chicken goes well together, as well.

Southwestern Chicken So much...green haha. I didn't expect a forest when I ordered this dish. This dish consisted of a grilled chicken breast with kale, sprinkled with couscous and some fresh guacamole on top. The chicken breast, despite it being rather thin, was actually really tender and well seasoned. The kale...I'm not sure if it was supposed to be raw. It tasted kind of weird, especially with a drizzle of oil-based dressing, but its my first time having kale so perhaps I'm just not used to it. The highlight was definitely the guacamole, which added that delicious touch of freshness and creamy richness to the dish. Its a teeny weeny bit overpriced for $20. But it tasted really clean and the flavors melded really well together (it was actually mostly the guacamole haha) so I don't have any complaints. Plus the cafe is absolutely beautiful with a lovely ambience. 7.5/10

Taisho Black How I love me a good cold brew ($6). This coffee was named after the era which coffee was most popular in Japan. You can ask for a lid to bring the bottle home after you finish, which is what I did. Its definitely one of the better cold brews and tasted like a labor of love. Its not too bitter or full-bodied, with a medium acidity. Its tasting notes are rather complex; I detected a faint caramelly aftertaste as well as some fruity notes. It was so smooth though, so easy to drink without being harsh or jarring. 8/10

Bacon Truffle Mac And Cheese Cheese oozes out when you poke it with a fork, the taste of the cheese is light and airy, not too gelate. They use a special long type of pasta instead of the usual Mac and cheese pasta hahaha. Definitely a must try!
