Free Filling Pita Bread Nice, kinda filling filled with meatballs, vegetables and sauces. The meatballs are salty and the vegetables and sauces give a refreshing and sour taste to it. The bread itself has no taste and together w the ingredients, they complement each other. Do bring your own water though, we were really thirsty after eating it.

Fill Free ($9) A falafel pita which brought me straight back to Israel. They really nailed it with the tahini and amba sauces, but it was the falafel that was outstanding - perhaps even better than the ones I have had in Israel! You may be skeptical, doubting if 3 falafel balls and 1 pita bread would be filling enough. Let me assure you that it is - there is nothing more I could've asked for...except maybe some hummus. What could've been better? For one, the Israeli hospitality would have made my experience more enjoyable. When I found out that Pita Bakery was opened by an Israeli, I was excited to check it out not just for the food, but also for the banter and chit-chat with the chefs/ storeowners that I had become used to in Israel. Maybe the owner was out at the time I visited, and while his staff were helpful, I didn't get /that/ level of hospitality. Second, I would have liked the option of getting a small portion of hummus to eat with my pita! Currently, if you dine-in, there is only a $4 portion of hummus available to order. Given that the pita itself is pretty filling, I would have liked the option to get a smaller serving of hummus just to complete the meal but not fill me up too much.

Best Falafels And Fluffiest Pita Breads In Singapore I find falafels at other places in Singapore really dry, but these were perfect and tasty! And the pita breads were like clouds.

Sandwich Saigon @sandwich_saigon - Bánh Mì - Pork Meatball Sandwich (💵S$8 + Pâté S$1 + Egg Omelette S$1.80) • . ACAMASEATS💮: Is this the best Bánh Mì in town? Maybe, maybe not. That’s if @parkbenchdeli & @lepetitsaigonhk does Viet again and make a comeback of their rendition of Bánh Mìs and Chã Giò (minced pork sausage rolls) which was phenomenal, almost just almost changed my life and instantly took me back to Vietnam. . . And that’s what good food and chefs should aspire to do, trigger one’s profound memories through food. Freshly baked warm baguette that has a crisp and crackly crust with pickled carrots, daikon radish, cucumber and fresh cilantro. I implore you to add the pâté to complete the entire Bánh Mì experience. Their homemade fish sauce and chili is a must, although the Bánh Mì itself is satisfyingly juicy enough.

Saigon Special ($8) - possibly the best bahn mi I’ve had in Singapore - succulent juicy pork belly with ham in toasted baguette. The baguette is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, the pork so juicy and fat that the bread can’t contain the juices and it flows down your chin and forearm. Coupled with the fresh garnish and heavy coriander, this sandwich is a beautiful mess. Worth checking out when you are on this side of the island. Pho is slightly on the sweet side, I prefer a more savoury broth.

Yum Bun This Grilled Pork with Spring Roll bun ($11) is just so good. Unlike some other viet places who may serve the grilled meat without its accompanying juice, the one here is so generous, you get meaty flavours all over the noodles. The fresh vegetables were aplenty too, which gave a refreshing touch to the dish. LOVEDDDD it!

Egg Tart (3 For $5) Just right size and sweetness! Not overly sweet (in fact to my standards it wasn’t sweet at all) - loved it!

Abalone And Chicken Tart A treat at a MicheLin rated restaurant is always welcomed and am thankful for the lunch treat today . I like the feel of walking into the restaurant . The wide corridor and the exquisite decor makes you feel like a royal 👑....😝 I particularly liked the Creative abalone and chicken tart as the pastry was nice and crisp and not too greasy and the juicy baby abalone provides such a nice contrast in texture and bursting with umami . The xo carrot cake was also very well executed - tasty , well crisp without being greasy and I liked the use of whole salted egg yolks in their glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf - the rice was cooked to perfection and not too wet and the meat within was seasoned well ( and thankfully not too salty ) . The har Gao and siew Mai were standard fare but I did feel that they were a little too salty by my standards ( too much msg perhaps ....) I liked the food at Wah Lok but the prices are too steep - so it will only be a once in a Long Long Long Long while indulgence .

Inside Scoop
Buckwheat Pancake ($19.5+) Last tried this pancake 4 years ago, when Populus just opened its door. It’s still soft and kinda fluffy but didn’t remember the pancake to be this thick and dense. Texture was more similar to banana cake than a pancake. That aside, we enjoy the refreshing berry compote and passionfruit curd lacing the top. The butter cube didn’t seem to add any flavour and you can definitely do it without the additional maple syrup on the side. Wouldn’t have been able to finish this all by myself considering how thick it is (and I got jelat after a few bites).

Roasted Cos & Soba Noodle Salad ($21.5+) Wasn’t expecting the tangy flavour profile from the noodle salad, but it was welcomed especially to complement our sweet buckwheat pancake. Roasted cod was moist inside though the crust was a tad dry but still good nonetheless. The lime & sesame dressing helps to boost our appetite with its refreshing tangy kicks. Really enjoy this dish!

Sticky Date Pudding This 'pudding' ($13) has a more cake-like texture and is surrounded by a rich pool of dulce de leche sauce, vanilla ice cream and cornflake crumb. The dulce de leche is a tad too sweet and rich for me, it's more like condensed milk. Maybe less of it would have been better. The 'pudding' itself is really nice though, I like it fluffier like this although it's a tad dry. The earthiness of the date went quite well with a simple vanilla ice cream, and the cornflake crumb definitely gives it a nice crunch.
