《The Blue Rhapsody》 There is A LOT going on with this cake: blueberry gel (Love this 😍), lavender hazelnut crumble (too little too faint), sponge cake (can be more moist), clad in cream cheese frosting (rich and well balanced 👌).

However, while pleasant enough, the flavours didn't accentuate each other. High potential but sadly fell short.

《Reimagined Kaya Toast》The yummier of the two desserts.

The gula melaka ice cream hit the spot and you can soak it ALL up with the pistachio sponge cake 😋. The brown toast meringue was a novelty that reminds one of the toast part of the dish.

However, given I can have ~3 kaya toast sets (with kopi and soft boiled egg) at the same price - the choice is clear. But that's just me :)

Overall the desserts taste good and the creativity behind these creations should be applauded. Sometimes however, the yummiest dessert can be just a simple moist sponge cake. #bengawansolopandancake

《Ebi donburi》: Festival of textures in your mouth - CRISPY tempura prawns, CRUNCH from the tobiko, POP from the ikura, all coated with the SOFT RUNNY eggs - YUMS! 😋

《Oyakodon》: Comfort food for the soul, Misato's version comes with ikura and tobiko, adding more layers to the texture and taste.

《Matcha Bavarois》: SO JIGGLY! and yet, it was smooth in the mouth. Liked that it wasn't too sweet.

Everything is cooked fresh upon order, hence the wait time was at least 15min. I will be back again for a leisurely meal with family/ friends.

The thick and smooth cheese foam satisfied savoury cravings, while the fresh fruit🍓 tea refreshed the palate, and wasn't tart at all!

The rich cheese foam and light fragrance from the strawberries are really a match made in heaven 😍

I really enjoyed it and will return to try other drinks (cheese rose oolong😍) but at S$8.30, I would think twice about ordering the strawberry cheese again.

🍄🍄😍 Tracy's special udon: unique fusion vegetarian dish - Japanese udon in the most delicious piping hot 🔥 (temperature not spice) mushroom 🍄 soup base.

A good variety of ingredients ensures a wholesome and satisfying meal: fragrant shiitake, crunchy broccoli 🥦 that soaks up the soup, cherry tomatoes 🍅 and mock meat.

Only drawback is the weak aircon - I started perspiring halfway through!

Tip: be careful not to burn your tongue - turn the broccoli head so it faces up to cool it off, and also dig up the cherry tomatoes so it floats on the surface!

3. TWG tea: A good selection of teas and changing of tea is allowed once..just a pity there's no Silver Moon.

Love the relaxing ambience:
1. Wide windows allowing in natural light
2. Informative, friendly and well-paced service

This is in contrast to a recent afternoon tea experience at Marina Mandarin - where service was either rushed or otherwise non-existent. E.g. Staff kept wanting to serve the next course when we weren't even halfway through the previous one, and when we told them "no", they HOVERED over us.

An afternoon tea experience = quality food, ambience and service. Mandarin Oriental ticks all these boxes, especially on the latter two.

Squid ink paella: robust flavours, sweet clams and tiny octopus bits that added a bit of bite 👍

Gambas al ajillo: fresh crunchy prawns, flavourful garlicky sauce = another winner 😋

Grilled octopus with fried potatoes side: octopus had a good bite without being too tough - but it wasn't the best Octopus I had, which was more tender.

Grilled iberico pork: tender but parts of it was a tad too salty.

Food was good - I like the chargrilled broccolini, crab cake was well executed and without a fishy smell, but nothing was especially memorable and made me want to make a return trip.

Its main concept is shared dining (and fresh tropical cocktails - but we don't really drink) and in that aspect, it did succeed - it has a variety of dishes on the menu, and is likely to have something that will meet the needs of even the pickest eater in your group. However, whilst everyone liked the dishes, nothing WOWed us.

Otoro melts in your mouth and was divine as expected. The Japanese rice was sweet and surprisingly addictive - perhaps because of the sauce and furikake coating it?

Only (slight) shame was the minced otoro - while it was delicious, it was just a tad too mushy.

Just thinking about my return trip to Chirashi King Kong makes me happy 😊

Overall thoughts: Generous portions of hearty Italian fare, I will be back!

Mozzarella salad 🥗: mozzarella and pesto always go well together, but the pesto sauce was slightly bitter.

Seafood Alfredo linguine: Love the cream sauce, which was rich but not overly cloying.

Marinara linguine: A good rendition; was expecting it to be spicy due to the 🔥on the menu, but regrettably, there wasn't the slightest hint of spice🌶, which would have provided another dimension to the taste of the 🍅 sauce.

Bonito pizza🍕: Unique Jap-Italian fusion. Ingredients were simple, but worked well together, and the Bonito flakes gave a nice smoky flavour. LOVE it!

TIP: We went on Saturday 11.30am and got 50% off on #eatigo, it's a super good deal!

Saw another group celebrating birthday then; they informed the staff, who played a birthday song! Must do that next time!

Had kopi at tiong bahru hawker centre after that, where I learnt kopiC-kosong-ice (hope i got that right)

The carbonated coffee really helps to spread the fruitiness so the coffee aroma permeates your entire mouth ☁️ I WILL BE BACK ❤️.

皺皺 HONEY CAKE: The name (wrinkly) is so cute and describes it so aptly! The cake was soft and fragrant - what's not to like? Perfect pair with the coffee!

Coffee connoisseurs might disagree with me, but for the average coffee drinker, the beer coffee is definitely a more fun and memorable drink. 🍻.

The pork melts in your mouth and is fragrant without having an overpowering star anise smell.

Some might feel it's a tad oily but I prefer this over a tasteless/ overly dry version (at the night markets) any time.

BRAISED EGG 魯蛋 was another star dish. The egg has been completely infused with the flavours of the sauce, and just look at the yolk size!

BRAISED TOFU 油豆腐 was really soft but otherwise unmemorable.

BAMBOO SHOOT 筍乾 was smelly and not worth your calories. Skip!

⭐️ TIP: Jin Feng is a 10min walk from Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall 中正紀念堂, so pop by before/ after. It's quite popular, so do be prepared to queue!
