Idaten Udon provides an affordable and quality option, serving variations of udon with selections of tempura available. I have to say that udon is my least preferred Japanese noodle (ramen comes first, then soba), but the udon here has the perfect amount of bounce and chewiness that I don’t mind opting for this over ramen some days. Chose the chicken steak and egg udon option, which came with egg drop soup, perfect for egg-lovers (me!!). Don’t forget the tiny bar of sauces, tempura bits and seaweed; I must have taken 3 bowls of seaweed to dunk in the soup. Added a dollar more to upgrade to matcha udon, which seems to make zero difference to the taste, so just stick to the original.
