Caught wind of the new Sweethut at Geylang Road — a new establishment which focuses on serving up Chinese desserts and light bites near Lorong 37 Geylang which had recently garnered quite a crowd being an establishment decked out in a fun dining environment (think lighted dice stools paired with rubric cube stools, fooseball table etc.) that opens till 4am; a great supper haunt in the neighbourhood that boasts of plenty of options for late night hangouts even in these post-Circuit Breaker times.

Found ourselves going for the Durian Sago which was a pretty safe option to have here — coming with sago pearls, shaved ice, durian flesh and coconut cream, the dessert was light and refreshing whilst carrying a variety of textures from the chewy sago pearls to the fibrous durian flesh. The durian flesh was pretty fresh; carrying a distinct sweetness and the pungent flavour of the king of fruits that was pretty much the main star of the entire dessert — a classic combination of elements that simply delivers.

While the food is pretty decent overall (skip the bland Bird Nest here though), there is much more left to be desired when it comes to the management of the entire establishment — messy queues with staff constantly trying to figure out if the patrons are ending up in the wrong queue and all; pretty haphazard and does not really work well for the patron’s dining experience overall. Perhaps somewhere I would probably consider returning to when the hype dies down.
