The salted egg squid didn’t look quite as appetising and in fact, we had assumed it was soggy. First bite and you realise how incredibly crispy it is. Amazing.

One of Ipoh’s best kept secrets is steamed fish.
La la Thai style.
The Qing Loong Chye here is crunchy and fat and so are the bean sprouts.
Stir fried French beans.
Chiu yim (peppery salt) sotong (squid).
Ham tan (salted egg) sotong (squid).
Lala (clams) with chilli and lime.
Choy poh (preserved radish) taufu.
Pak Sou Kong is a type of catfish.
