Have been wanting to try these for a long time — think of these as the Vietnamese Chee Cheong Fun; it's almost the same thing where you get a steamed rice roll rolled with minced pork and drenched in soy sauce (you can customize it by choosing a prawn filling and opting for the chili-fish sauce instead). A little different from the usual Chee Cheong Fun, the rice roll come stretched a wee bit thinner than usual whilst carrying a more stickier bite akin to glutinous rice. The insides were pretty meaty, well stuffed with savoury chunks of minced meat, jicama for a little crunchiness and black fungus for a little chewiness. Doused in soy sauce with fried shallots sprinkled atop, it brings out familiar HK Chee Cheong Fun flavours with that delightful umami touch and crunchiness — definitely something I would go for again if I am craving for a light, savoury dish during tea break!
