When an eatery is confident enough to only sell 1 kind of food, chances are they do it really well. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป Tucked on Level 1 of @payalebarsquare is Kajiken, also Singaporeโ€™s first dedicated dry ramen โ€œmaze sobaโ€ shop! ๐Ÿ˜Š Lots of choices here at Kajiken for you to choose from! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜
.
If you exhibit traits of aboulomania, simply go for their Mazesoba with all toppings (U.P $17.30++, now $15.80++)! ๐Ÿ’• Comes with soba & free noodle upsize if youโ€™re a big-eater, this is quite a good deal! โœŒ๐ŸปโœŒ๐ŸปโœŒ๐Ÿป

Meat lovers are bound to enjoy the slices of pork char siew ๐Ÿ–, braised pork, & chicken karaage (deep-fried chicken) ๐Ÿ“. My favourite was the char siew, which was extremely succulent despite having quite a substantial thickness. ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿคค๐Ÿคค They just fell slightly short of having that melt-in-your-mouth texture as the cut used was rather lean but still extremely well-executed as I personally donโ€™t like fatty meats. ๐Ÿคฃ The pinkish slices even glistened under the light (like some smoked duck), evidence of its freshness & tenderness which was so delightful. ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Their braised pork was extremely savoury & well-marinated but naturally tougher due to the thick cut. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป While it could have been more tender, it certainly scored high on taste! โœ” Similarly, the chicken kaarage donned a crispy exterior fried to the perfect golden brown, while the interior remained soft & juicy. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹ Pro-tip: separate the kaarage from the mazesoba immediately to retain its crisp! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The savoury seasoned lavier has a distinctive taste which mellows the โ€˜siapโ€™ taste of the spring onions ๐Ÿ’š, which gives a nice crunch together with the leek. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป When stirred, the springy dry noodles are generously coated with these ingredients, cohesively brought together by that perfectly runny soft-boiled egg ๐Ÿณ that lends a creamy & luscious mouthfeel! โคโคโค

Definitely worth a try or revisit!
