Switching out my standard afternoon treats for a box of Juchhiem's cookies and signature baumkuchen (that I got as a gift), I really enjoyed the sweets which went superbly well with a spot of tea. Resembling a tree log with its many layered rings, the cake was not something I would usually go for. Denser than the usual Japanese pastries that I am used to, the texture of the traditional German cake was a tad too dense and dry especially if you were to compare it to our favourite butter sponge. However, looking at it individually the chilled confectionery held a delicate citrusy flavour and non-greasy finish - a great snack any time of the day.
