I am always in awe when I walk past this stall - thinking how can a curry puff staff survive such high rentals and they have been there since the beginning of ages .
I am not a curry puff person but the recent mooncake craze has got my cravings for yam Teochew mooncake triggered .
Not willing to spend tens of dollars on a Teochew yam mooncake but thankfully I found a very good substitute .
This yam - Orh nee puff is out of the world .
Light flakey pastry and home made yam Orh nee that’s not sweet and so aromatic .
At 1.50, it’s literally the best kept secret at the Taka food hall .
I still can’t forget that creaminess oozing out of that crisp pastry . Best eaten immediately after purchased 😝 for maximum enjoyment .
Or simply just warm it in your oven gently if you are packing home - it makes a huge difference eating it warm .
