decided on this place due to @mattanggg's recommendation. sio bak cake is taking the stage here cos its my bday cake. and its my first one this year.
-
we got ourselves the roast meats which include the famed char siew, sio bak and chicken. added on fries and potato salad as sides and a serving of prawn noodles for each couple to share.
-
the char siew did not disappoint. fatty, flavourful and just slightly charred for that smoky taste. for the sio bak, i just like the crackling skin. chicken was complimented by quite abit of garnishes and the combination was spot on. meat was soft and tender too.
-
potato salad had a smoky taste which i assumed is due to the bacon. and as a kantang lover, i can find no fault with this item. fries are the typical fill in the time slot whereby no other food is available yet. nothing special to me.
-
and the prawn noodles which uses mee pok as the base. expecting a super robust broth, i was very disappointed with the soup and so were the rest of us. other than the texture of the mee pok, i find this nothing to rave about. the sakura ebi did little to help, so the overall dish was still kinda bland for me. and the price tag did not help too. the chef did explain they were going for a fusion style rather than the sinkie super gao prawn soup we are used to.
-
roast meat were generally good and the staff were very nice and friendly by providing us with the cake and even poured us small glasses of complimentary alcohol. these, with the ambience would be a good place for drinks imo.
-
treat by mark kor and xx but i agar $30 per pax.
