tender fresh is already a household name so it will most probably be a safe choice.
-
ordered half a spring chicken set meal and two bbq wings to share. the prices have come a long way from the $1 fries, $4.50 chicken chop and $6 whole spring chicken days. and for us now, nostalgia usually comes with a hefty price tag. and i'm a sucker for nostalgia.
-
the spring chicken skin was crispy and was not soaked with oil. it's nice but the nostalgia bit was somehow lacking though i can't put a finger to it. same goes to the wings.
-
only the fresh chilli sauce brought me back to the kopitiam stall at bangkit road with the bbq wings on multiple skewers over burning charcoal. but it's definitely one of the more accessible local western food places which serves decent stuff right now. so thank you 可爱鸡 for keeping this nostalgic flavour alive somehow.

$9 per pax.

we opted for the buffet menu and kind of ordered the standard fare we always got.
-
food here was legit nice. sides were good. soup was not overly salty. pancake was not too floury. bbq meat was yummy. especially the pork belly and beef.
-
the meat was thinly sliced and you could just devour piece after piece without realising the sins you have committed. the pork belly had a very crisp and the beef's flavour was just tempting and addictive.
-
i did not get to taste the fried chicken today because having been here a couple of times, we all know that the portion is crazy huge. so we decided to just dabao the fried chicken as always and just spam the bbq while having the non-dabao-able soup etc. service was impeccable until we were told that there was a change in their SOP and we could not dabao the fried chicken.
-
we only found out when we were about to settle the bill. if we were notified earlier, we would not have ordered other ala carte dishes to add on. so after abit of talking, we decided to give in and let them throw away the fried chicken. at least the sin of food wastage is not on me. kinda put off by the sudden change in rules and the flexibility.
-
that being said, the food is not bad and it would have continued to be a regular kbbq joint for us if not for this minor dispute. in all honesty, the food is definitely worth a go. just skip the additional ala carte orders or you will end up wasting food.

only managed to order these two dishes and the stalls were out of food by then. well, at least we managed to catch the fireworks which was unexpected.
-
first up is the peppercorn steak from the feather blade. texture is nice but there's no nice beefy flavour. and peppercorn is kinda weird for me to have it on beef. would most probably try a classic version given the chance in the future.
-
and the second and last dish is the braised duck rice we all know and love. we did not feel we overpaid for this though. the bowl was packed with ingredients and that includes quite alot of duck meat. typical duck rice. no complaints from us.
-
$11 for the steak.
$8 for the duck rice.

And this time, it's the satki UOB VP's. Gxgx!
-
The appetisers were shiok liao. Suckling pig, roast duck and unagi. Truffle scallops were a nice surprise. The truffle scent was unmistakenly present yet it was not overpowering. Loved this dish. Crispy roast chicken was a crowd favourite; especially the long fried snack bits.
-
Thank you VP for the invite and a chance for us to gather. Here's wishing you a blissful marriage. Please huat more and buy houses from me. 😂

I don't order mee tai mak at bcm stalls so I guess this is the only time I eat mee tai mak.
-
Actually, the chopsticks are just for show. Simple bowl of laksa. Not as lemak as I would have wanted but convenience is key here. Overall, it's good enough and filling for me with the shrimps, egg, tau pok and fish cakes.
-
$8.10 for this bowl of laksa with a iced barley.

But I was bored of Sushi Express. So Google led me to this venue.
-
Prices were definitely pricier than Sushi Express but quality was way better. We were kinda hungry so we just picked off random plates once we were seated down.
-
Every piece of sushi was fresh and yummy. No skimping on the ingredients. Or perhaps the heavy flavours suited me very well. My personal favourites were the Aburi Salmon and Egg Mayo.
-
Just plan your orders and the bill will be fine. She also said conveyor belt sushi is therapeutic. Anyone feels the same?

Situated strategically at Shaw, there is no reason to miss this event which runs till 14th July 2019. Try out the mini games and carousel too!
-
The media pass allowed me and xy to each order one item from each of the stalls which is like over a whooping 20 food items. Jiak until siao. Thankfully, we have our newly-made international friends from Taiwan and Hawaii to help. Hope you guys enjoyed the feast as much as we did!
-
You will see some familiar names such as @kechasg, @beefbro_sg, @monkicafeholland and @burgersandheads. First time trying out beef cubes from Beef Bro. Tried the Truffle and Mentaiko variations. Perhaps I should have just went with the Original. Got The Impossible and Da Cheese Master from Three Buns. It's just all spice for The Impossible. Not my thing but the cheeseburger is shiok. Juicy patty, savoury cheese and the buttery bun makes for an irresistible combination.
-
New names to me include @the6ixsrosti and @churrosrepublic which are my top favourites. Ordered the Classic and Cheesy. Definitely going back for the Classic. With just the sour cream alone, I'm hooked. Churros, even though were out for a long time still remained crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Only gripe was that the sugar was abit overkill for us.
-
Tried more stuff which include a new Tiger Beer, Creme Brulee Bubble Tea, Cheesy Chicken Kebab Wrap, Grilled Oyster Mushroom with Mentaiko Sauce which was weirdly bitter, Fried Soft Shell Crabs, Durian Ice Kachang, Braised Pork Rice and the usual Pasar Malam suspects; Tutu Kueh and "Shark's Fin" Soup.
-
$17 each for the Truffle and Mentaiko Beef.
$15 each for the burgers.
$6 for the Classic Rosti.
$8 for the Churros.

this braised seafood beehoon with fish sauce is good stuff. perhaps due to the fish sauce.
-
the broth is good on its own. but it levels up the beehoon by allowing it to soak in all of the goodness. ingredients are generous too. shrimps and sotong. egg with the beautiful yolk was an add-on.
-
gonna jiak a few more times before i move house.
-
$6.80 for this plate.

chinese naan with different fillings. i got all 5 flavours to try.
-
on the top of my list is the pickled veg with fish. interesting taste from the veg that perks you up with slight hint of spice.
-
coming in next is the coconut filled naan. i love everything coconut. so this one with the sweet coconut shreds will take one of the top spots for sure.
-
i can't taste the brown sugar in the brown sugar red bean flavoured one. just red bean paste. very similar to the red bean paste dessert we usually get at chinese restaurants. the preserved veg one just did not work for me. same goes to the spicy beef which just reminds me of the canned bak tng.
-
a filling snack which is affordable. a variety of flavours to choose from. so there should be something for everyone.
-
the prices range from $2.30-$3.20. i paid $13.60 for these 5 pieces of naan.

😂 first time trying out @paradisegrpsg's new concept.
-
we got both a dry version and a soup version to share and try. added on a century egg tofu.
-
i liked the appetiser. no skimping of the century egg portion. by having every spoonful of tofu with some century egg, it was definitely enough to go around. the cold and refreshing tofu with the flavour-packed century egg made a wonderful combination. a must-order for century egg lovers.
-
and now onto the stars of the meal. i loved the soup version cos the broth tasted more gao to me. the noodles were too soft for me though. with the dry version, u get a medley of condiments with the sauce but somehow it tasted bland. however, that gave me a chance to add their chilli in and it really did bring the noodles to another level which i really did enjoy. and the good thing about the dry version; the noodles had a really good and hard texture which i personally like. -
another gripe was that the prawns were not cleaned properly. all of the prawns still had the line of junk on their spine which i had to remove myself. kopitiams and food courts, i will be alright since the price point is there but this is a full fledged restaurant.
-
$16 per pax with 30% off the 2 noodles.

heng we went early around 6, so low risk of having the food sold out. had a super overpriced rojak while waiting from the same market. not worth it imo. claypot rice arrived after 45min of waiting.
-
spammed some oil and drizzled abit of the black sauce over the rice. she added a portion of chicken and got us a soup too.
-
this dish suits me if the condiments are spammed. too dry i cannot. so since she let me dictate how much to whack, i had a very enjoyable meal. chicken was soft with a good bite. rice was not clumpy at all. the 锅巴 was very tempting but they were too charred for us. and so we had to pang seh most of them.
-
$12 per pax.

have heard so much about this place from fellow burpplers during eatups.
-
made a booking thru quandoo but it was a misrepresentation by quandoo. the owner of the establishment was kind enough to apologize for a mistake which was not theirs to begin with. so without any reservation, we waited around 45min.
-
we ordered a bowl of noodles each and 4 different types of dumplings to share; the original, the truffle potato cheese, the smoked duck and the chilli oil one. forgot their original names. my bad. lol.
-
a common trait among the pan fried dumplings was the crispy skin. my favourite was the potato cheese one. this fusion item was bursting with flavours. savoury and rich. sibei shiok.
-
coming in a close second was the smoked duck. reminds me of abit of peking duck and you guys know my love for this dish. for the original, the vinegar was essential for me.
-
a fuss-free eatery where the menu is simple with just a few dishes. and they nailed these few dishes. service was prompt and fellow patrons were considerate to not horde the seats after finishing the meal. a very nice community. both staff and customers.
