My Mother use to buy curry paste this way too. It’s all mixed with the blend of spices for whatever meat you’re cooking, and you buy as much as required and cook it immediately.
The modern vacuumed packed ones may be convenient but this way is definitely more charming.
I didn’t join the queue (cos I wasn’t planning to cook) so I can’t tell you if it’s good, but it’s called Kalanidi Curry Spices and the pastes start from $3.50 (if my eyesight didn’t fail me). If you’re in Tampines and plan to cook curry, give Uncle some business. Keep the trade alive!
