A tad denser than I would like, Fieldnotes by Zee & Elle’s Black Sesame Hōjicha Cream Cake ($8.50/ slice) was more of a miss for me. The black sesame chantilly cream lacked oomph as the nuttiness was pretty mild and wasn’t all that fragrant or aromatic. The hōjicha ganache layered between the black sesame-infused sponge was distinct but didn’t pair all that well together with the other elements, in my opinion.
