Walked past this bakery hidden within Joo Chiat and decided to check it out. Previously located at 127 East Coast Road, they had already been in business since 1985. This place mainly caters to takeaway as well as custom orders, but they do have two tables of two if one decides to do a dine-in here.

This reminds me of the chocolate cakes of the good old days; that thick chocolate mousse over the top and that slightly sweet yet chocolatey cake that is adequately dense. Thought that the raspberry coulis was a little too sour despite being the main character of the cake — so much that it actually overrides the chocolate and leaves that sour-ish after taste in the mouth. Otherwise, I would say I could have ate this for that nostalgic flavour (perhaps the Blackforest Slice could have been a better order).

PS: They seem to charge 10% service charge for dine-in here; not that I mind for it's just $0.45 on top of the $4.50 cake, but it's just rather odd given the operation model here. Well, at least the lady boss was pretty friendly and hospitable so it's worth the charge.
