Dusek’s changed my brunch expectations forever!! Never settling for anything less than this.
This is definitely the best southern fried chicken I’ve ever had. In fact, I can’t even begin to describe how juicy and tender it was... It’s definitely something you have to try for yourself to believe it. My friend and I were spazzing over it with every bite we took because it was just that amazing. The meat inside is incredibly well seasoned too. And the batter... wow. I don’t know what they put in it but it’s the perfect mix of herbs and spices and SO crisp, without a unnecessarily thick amount of batter. I was telling my friend that I wish they made the batter into chips because it was so tasty. Paired with the maple syrup, the chicken was amazing.

The other components of the dish were unfortunately rather underwhelming though. The waffles were particularly disappointing. They tasted so strongly of wine, not in a good way, that we ended up not even finishing them. There were also braised, spicy collard greens, which I initially thought was sweet potato leaves because it looks and tastes like them. Not my fav since it was quite spicy, but I could see how people could like them.

Overall, the food is fantastic and the deco is so gorgeous too. It’s also quite cool that it’s right next to Thalia Hall, which is an opera house and designated as a Chicago landmark! Definitely recommend this place for brunch.
