In a discreet corner of Farrer Park mrt and the exit to where Farrer Park hotel is , lies a jewel in Cantonese cuisine.

I have had the best sweet and sour pork in Singapore here and that’s right after my TOP ranking given to pang’s kitchen ( a Michelin - stared restaurant in HK, happy valley ) for their strawberry sweet and sour pork .

Friends know that it takes a lot to wow me with good Cantonese cuisine because most that we get in Singapore from Chain restaurants don’t fit the bill and you will never see me there - I’d rather be at some 大排档 or non air conditioned place sweating it out but really enjoying the real stuff .

So it was very pleasing for me that jia he is so beautifully and tastefully renovated and yet the food matches up to its interior .

The pork was lean and crisp and the sauce just had the right balance of sweet , savoury and slight tartness . The dish was served fresh and piping hot so you won’t get any of those soft and soggy batter nonsense . The meat morsels were also just thinly battered so you won’t get any of those imposter “ meat morsels “ that are actually just thick flour coatings .

King 👑 of sweet and sour pork I hail you .
