Rainy days call for a need of hot comfort food and I am so glad that I no longer need to travel all the way just to get belly comforting frog Porridge!

There are 2 choices of having the claypot frogs cooked: the spicy dried chili (宫保) style or the non-spicy ginger and spring onion (姜葱) style. Had the dried chili one which got really spicy because of the many dried chili seeds in the pot. I wasn't expecting the thick copious gravy that had the 4 frogs swimming in but surprisingly it really marinated the frogs well, except that it got a little too salty. The frogs were also conveniently chopped into smaller pieces and cooked till really soft.

We had the porridge served separately. Having some sesame oil added to porridge is always an awesome idea for making bland porridge more appetizing like this one. Rumor has it that oats were spotted in the porridge previously but I haven't seen any this time.
