Comes in a trio! I never would have thought salted egg and sesame paste would go well together but this pau was the evidence that they are indeed complementary. The fragrant sesame paste helped to ease the sweetness of the salted egg yolk, making it not surfeiting and delicious. It was a pau bursting with flavours.

The dishes are usually a hit or miss for me but the almond paste birds nest is usually pretty good. But this time round the almond paste was a little bland/light.

Nian Gao 年糕

The last dish which was kind of disappointing this time. Remembered the previous time was sandwich between sweet potato and yam. This time the molten cake was only sandwich between extremely thin barely there pieces of yam, which kind of did not balance the sweetness.

My favourite dish although it seem to be smaller this year. Encased with a thin crispy crust, inside filled with soft sweet sweet potato, chewy sticky nian gao, and the soft taro.
