Almost forgotten how awesome this classic could be. The immensely powerful and absorbing zuppa di pomodoro served a dollop of herb butter and a dash of olive oil.
If there's only one thing you can order here, let it be the mac & cheese! You wouldn't regret it. The mac used here is of a longer, thinner, straighter tubular type. The cheese used as expectedly is rich and sticky with a layer of cheddar on top, it will certainly progressed from a side and slowly but surely over take the mains. Served pipping hot (it must be!) in a cast iron pan, the M&C is wet on the inside and stick, chewy, yummy on the outside, and the truffle oil used in abundance, giving it a distinctive characteristic like no others.
Kind of disappointed that there wasn't much "substance" in the bone marrow, the garnishes of cilantro, red onion and mustard almost pulled it off on their own.
If this is cavemen's food, I will hunt for a living! Rustic grill of the gigantic slab of steak with the rib bone weighs a whopping 1.6kg. You can't get more carnivorous than this.
Can't think of any reason why anyone would say no to a mac & cheese. Providore does theirs a little differently. Theirs a little less cheesy, it's moist I believe from the fennel that it adds to the skillet of mesmerising macaroni & cheese. Did I mention lobster? The chunky cuts of the crustacean adds so much flavour to the grub, you know it's an instant upscaling when you taste those succulent, briny lobster. Again can't think of any reason why anyone would not like a lobster... except my daughter who's still mourning over her baby lobster who died in her fish tank 18 months ago...
Creamed artichoke, chicken fingers, onion rings, spiced tomato bruschetta, buffalo wings/drumlets
The Nassim Hill has certainly perfected the true blue Mac & Cheese, golden crusty on the outside; creamy and rich on the inside. The macaroni are carb rich but the satisfaction of each mouthful of awesome al dente and savoury are just too much for you to say no.
Boxing Day dinner: Pastrami, roast beef and chopped liver... What else would be worth living for?
