Located in Lasalle College of the Arts, this spacious cafe is home to many long and wide tables, and serves very decent food at extremely affordable prices. This makes for a gloriously conducive place to get work done, or to hold group gatherings. If that isn't enough of an incentive, they now serve all-day brunch; including waffles, smoked salmon, eggs benedict!

Nestled in a quiet residential area in Bukit Timah, this cafe offers an escape from the buzz of traffic and fast-paced city life. It hosts a relaxed environment for out-of-office work or some enjoyable book-reading. Try their innovative take on iced espresso in milk, which involves frozen cubes of espresso, served with a small jar of chilled milk to pour in as you wish.

If you're lucky enough to find a seat in this cafe tucked away from the crowds of Upper Thompson Road, go ahead and take advantage of the free WiFi, while enjoying their Belgian liege waffles and a good cup of coffee. They also offer affordable breakfast platters and sandwiches, made to satisfy. They stay open till 11pm - a great after-work haunt!

With high ceilings, plywood tables, and humble stools, this cafe nestled in the Lavender/Jalan Besar area makes for a good stop for that caffeine fix while working on the go. True to their location, their special lavender latte ($5.50) is a total hit, as is their pancake stack served with bananas, ricotta, and drizzled with honey and crushed pistachio ($15). Remember to push the gold door if you're struggling to find the entrance!

This Aussie-inspired cafe boasts quality food with quality ingredients. They smoke their own salmon, cure their own meat and make their own yoghurt. Go for their roast beef on rye ($17), or the banana cake with caramelised bananas and hokey pokey Ice-cream ($12). Australian indie vibes, aromatic coffee with a kick, mouthwatering food, and oh yes - free WiFi. What's not to love?

The idea of combining an art class centre and a cafe, is ingenious. This is how Cups N Canvas has set itself apart from the hundreds of other cafes. If you think arts is the only thing they specialize in, you'd be pleasantly surprised with their delicious Blanc Bacon pasta, and fragrant Cafe Latte. Cups N Canvas seems to have it all. You can literally smell art in this cafe.

This humble little hole-in-the-wall cafe along Haji Lane sports a bright blue exterior that pretty much tells you what it's all about. Young, fun, and laid back, this is a great place for a no-brainer pit stop. You might have trouble finding a spot to sit though!

Known for their gorgeous HUGE cakes, The Fabulous Baker Boy is simply fabulous. Dig into their sinfully rich, chocolate covered Red Velvet cake with a cup of coffee. Set in The Foothills, it's a nice place to relax with a couple of friends on a lazy afternoon. We suggest that you share a few slices, but hey, sometimes it's alright to be selfish.

If you love to indulge in some people-watching, Kith Cafe would be the place to go. A chocolate-orange milkshake may sound weird to some, but it is actually one of the favourites, so give it a try! Head over early for their big breakfast and to beat the morning crowd, you'll thank us for this even if it means reaching there before 9am.

There's something about sitting outside on the pavement of Telok Ayer St with a good Caesar salad and a coffee, having a long, slow breakfast/brunch/lunch at whatever time you wake up on a Saturday or Sunday. Sarnies is perfectly laid back, and is just what you need after a long week at work or school. Don't forget to finish your meal off with their killer brownie!

The Book Cafe is one of those hidden gems with the perfect ambience for work. Although it's a tad inaccessible, you'll be ensured a quiet and comfortable environment with excellent service that will make you feel at home. Complete with plush couches and good lighting, their simple yet satisfying food and coffee will not disappoint.

What sets D'Good Cafe apart from the rest is that they offer customers a unique experience of creating their own coffee blend from a range of single origin beans. Their coffee art also never fails to amaze -- imagine an adorable bear or rabbit sitting in your coffee! Don't hesitate to order their affordable tea-time sets, available after 2pm.
