Mid Valley/The Gardens Noms
Today I have the seafood spaghetti with tomato base. Seafood was a range of tiger prawns, calamaris, and clams.
Disliked the clams because of their inners but tiger prawns were very fresh.
Love eating at Alexis not only because of those delicious cakes on the counter but also their clean and delicious menu.
Been looking for a place at Chipotle like in the States? Now you can get something really similar at Mid Valley on the new Mezzanine Floor at South Court!
A choice of burritos, burrito bowls, soft and hard tacos, nachos, and a lot more! Also a choice of protein filling that you like from beef and chicken meat. Their Ramadhan Special is the beef rendang that tasted quite delicious too!
I had the burrito bowl and they are very willing to cater to your demands if you'd like to customise your bowl. I really love the blend of taste and how appetising everything was.
Next, the burrito is with the Ramadhan special, Beef Rendang. Although not very authentic but it was delicious. The beef rendang could do a little more spice. However, it was definitely a very filling wrap! 😅 The difference between a burrito bowl and the burrito is the latter is wrapped in soft tortilla wraps the former is not (gluten free). Usual mix of a burrito are rice, cheese, choice of protein, beans, pico de gallo, lettuce, and sour cream.
Of course you can omit things that you don't want or have some things on the side as you wish. Like I did with the burrito bowl, I omitted rice and sour cream because I don't like sour cream in nature, had pico de gallo and guacamole on the side.
Definitely lesser choices and variety than Chipotle, USA. But it's fairly close. Checkout their Instagram for their menu!
Choice of brown rice, wholewheat tortilla, and an add on of guacamole to make your food healthier and tastier.
Extra points for delicious pico de gallo and guacamole with the texture of a smooth ice cream! 😝 Food: 7/10 Price: 7/10 (RM 16.90 for both burrito and burrito bowl; extra charges - RM 3.90 for guacamole, RM 1.20 for whole wheat tortilla, RM 1.60 for brown rice)
Burgers, steaks, milkshakes, grilled food. You name it! The classic! 😊
Clockwise: Black Pepper burger, rosemary grilled chicken and original banana milk shake.
Surprisingly the food here is awesome! Had my first ever milk shake here. Their signature is banana milkshake, with a choice of few flavours. I chose vanilla, the original. So yummy!! No wonder people love milk shakes.
I had the grilled chicken breast with a side of corn and mixed vegetables. Oh my god! The chicken is seasoned perfectly. I love rosemary. Chicken is grilled to perfection. Not dry. But a bit too crispy for my liking.
My mother had the Black Pepper Beef burger. Comes with caramelised onions. Beef patty is so juicy. Portion size is generous. Just look at it! And hey, burgers with caramelised onions are perfect. I wish I took a close up of it before letting my mom dig in. But we were both very hungry. Hahah
I saw steak orders going out too. Really generous piece for the price they are charging. 👌
Now, I have to try Johnny Rockets to compare!
Steak shack just opened few days ago. 😊 Another spot to choose for a new place. But it's a really naughty meal for me. Place for cheat meal perhaps? :) Food: 8/10 Price: 8/10 (RM 19.90 for burger, RM 19.90 for chicken, RM 9.90 for milkshake, RM 0.50 for sky juice aka water)
Everything in the noodle bowl is served cold and the idea is to dip them and enjoy the pure taste, flavour and fragrance of each element. Haha
It's just a very fancy way of eating ramen. Dipping the ramen is to ensure the texture of ramen when you eat it. Yes the ramen was indeed very nice and chewy. But I can get that in normal types too.
The soup gets a little sickening after a while. It tastes like a sweet miso based soup. The soup is made of pork broth and bonito.
It's not a bad dish but it's just nothing to shout about. I'll just stick to my regular soy based soup ramen.
Food: 5/10 Price: 5/10 (RM 26 - I get so little pieces of meat. Half an egg. A piece of seaweed. A bowl of broth that gets too sweet and sickening after a while. And a whole load of noodles. Really overpriced and unbalanced. I can a get more with soup ramen at a lower price in their menu!)
A bit like a spicy ramen where they put spicy miso into their original flavour broth.
We are given 3 suggested combinations of sides to go with this ramen. You can go with plain if you want! Just soup and noodles. But this one is with salted soft boiled egg.
I really love Ippudo's soft boiled eggs. The yolk is just perfectly runny. No complains!
Don't worry! This is not spicy at all. Just very flavourful. I like it much better than the dip style ramen. The spicy miso just makes everything come together and more appetising!
Plus there's more pork slices and soup!
Food: 7/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 30 - ippudo is a very posh place for ramen. All of their dishes ranges around this price. So they are rather expensive. But value for money? Take soup ramen. Not dip ramen)
A lighter and healthier option. Tuna is good for you! Apples, corns and vegetables too! Haha
The flatbread is sort of like a wrap. Unlike a Turkish flatbread that's very thick.
This dish is very light and fresh. Love the combination of tuna, apples and corn. It says the tuna and apple is mixed with mayonnaise but I didn't taste any mayonnaise. Maybe very minimal. Which is good! Amount of tuna and the rest of the fillings were adequately generous.
I will definitely go for this if I need a to go lunch or just a light lunch.
I'm surprised the flatbread came with a side salad too. A generous amount of lettuce leaves as well. Salad is light and fresh garnished with a little balsamic vinegar.
Food: 8/10 Price: 9/10 (RM 10.90 - Now you know why I was surprised when it came together with a side salad. It was displayed on the cabinet and I thought they will only serve that. So happy they make you eat your veggies!)
Dessert! Note: Don't treat this as a dessert. It's quite filling. I made a mistake hahaha.. Greedy but I get attracted to banana breads. 😅 luckily I shared.
Rich banana loaf was definitely rich! The bread was very compact and full of banana, as well as a good taste of cinnamon. Love this! Another to-go item! ☺️
Served with a side of whipped cream. It's a very surprising cream! So light and not sweet at all. I expected those normal creamy whipped cream. But this was very very light. Good combination with the naturally sweet banana loaf.
Recommended to banana lovers. 👍 So delicious.
Food: 9/10 Price: 9/10 (RM 6.90 - one inch thick, maybe about 3 1/2 inch length and a very filling compact slice of bread!)
I was so attracted to this Thai restaurant because of their concept. The place is decorated with all the Tiffin carriers!
They don't serve the food in tiffin carriers yet. The waitress/manager told me they'll have a new menu out with ala carte choices. It's also sort of an express Thai restaurant atm. Hopefully they'll serve in the tiffin carrier soon! 😁 So far the food is alright. Pork noodles (choice of rice/egg noodle or just soup) were tasty and also one of the recommended one. They serve fish sauce, vinegar, sugar and chilly flakes in test tubes! How cute. The broth is very clear and tasty. Depends on your taste. The fish sauce did enhance the flavour of the broth. I added chili flakes for some heat too.
Pad Thai wasn't great though. Although it's a "recommended" dish, the noodles were too sticky and bland. Pad Thais are supposed to be delicious and mastered in Thai restaurants. What a disappointment. 😞 These came in a set, with appetizers and dessert. Their boxer chicken appetizer was delicious! Desserts were apple salad and fruits.
The Thai Milk Tea (requested for less sweet) tasted quite good too. Nice tea fragrant. Something like HK Milk tea, but on a less milky side with different tea flavour. Don't be deceived by their Thai Sala flavor syrup drink though. It's just like the local red syrup drink.
Ordered a piece of vegetable spring rolls. I thought it was the rice wrapped vegetable spring rolls, but it's actually a deep fried one. Tasted nice, but it was nothing special.
Took away the Pork Knuckle and Pork Belly rice for the family as well. Looks so good! Pork was falling off the bone so easily. Although I didn't taste it, my family said it didn't taste too bad. Pork was very tender and flavourful. Both are stewed dishes.
Food: 7/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 18.80 for pork noodle set, RM 18.80 for Pad Thai set, RM 19.80 for pork knuckle rice set, RM 18.80 for pork belly rice set, RM 7.80 for milk tea, RM 6.80 for syrup drink, RM 3 for spring rolls)
Who's up for some big and crunchy Homi curry puffs! 😋 Malaysians favourite local pastry. The curry puff. Usually they are quite small, maybe just the size of 3 fingers. But Homi puffs are HUGE. As huge as my whole Palm! That's their signature. Huge, crispy and filled.
I was able to grab a shot of the freshly fried puffs cooling down. Looks so delicious!they puffed up so well! Be careful not to take the extra hot ones or you'll burn your throat.
There's a choice of spicy, non-spicy chicken puffs and sardine puffs. I love the spicy one because that is what a [curry] puff is supposed to be. They're not too spicy! The non-spicy is delicious too. I didn't try the sardine ones though.
At least they're not stingy with their filling! I hope they maintain this and don't cut down cost by reducing the filling. 😒 Food: 7/10 Price: 7/10 (RM 2.70 for one. They always have an offer to buy 10pc free 1pc. Good for a pot luck party maybe?)
A simple and delicious Japanese rice bowl! I love chicken and mushrooms. So this rice bowl is the perfect combo for me. They even have edamame! The teriyaki chicken breast was very nice and tender. Shimeiji mushrooms were sautéed nicely in soy sauce. So delicious! I love Japanese mushrooms especially with rice at japanese restaurants. They know how to cook it simple and delicious. Edamame! The main reason I ordered this rice bowl. Edamame obsession is real!
If you're into chicken-dons, this is another place to go to although Manmaru specializes in udon. This rice bowl is a chef's recommendation too!
Food: 9/10 Price: 8/10 (RM 17.90 - price is almost the same as Waku Waku and it's rather cheap!)
Handmade udon with chicken teriyaki and poached eggs.
The udon is so delicious and chewy! I think it's a perfect udon texture. Chicken Teriyaki is delicious and sweet. The chicken skin is so crispy because of the nice glaze. The yolk from the poached egg becomes a natural sauce for the udon, which was so divine. Not really a big portion though.
Manmaru has a lot of udon styles. I would love to come back to try the rest! Fresh udons are the bomb!
Food: 8/10 Price: 7/10 (RM 15.90 - quite a reasonable price too. The portion is not too big and you're given fresh handmade udons. I will complain if this bowl was RM 20++. But it's not 😁)
It was in a takeaway box so presentation isn't that pretty. On a brighter note, this was on Christmas Eve! Check out the cute snowman nail cameo! 😜 Flavours from left to right: Original (not in box), coffee, 2x Matcha, chocolate, honey and Milk+White chocolate.
The waffles are all very fluffy and delicious in general. My personal preference are the original, honey, matcha and chocolate. I have yet to try the red bean and cinnamon sugar ones. Soon I will!
My favourite is the original though. The waffle was still crispy and nice while hot. Definitely should try the original. They taste a little sweet, not very doughy, light and tickles your tastebud! 🙊 Coffee was very sweet and didn't taste like coffee at all. So it was the least favourite among me and my friends. Milk+White chocolate will send you straight to dialysis for diabetics. Too much exaggeration but it is actually very sweet. I only took a bite. 😓 Next goal is to try their plated desserts or waffle sets!
Food: 8/10 Price: 8/10 (RM 36 box + RM 5.90 original ala carte - they're considerably cheap for a Belgian waffle with this size and from a Japanese origin! I love Japanese baked stuffs 😊)
