Brown Sugar Boba Milk ($5.20)
.
Brown sugar boba milk from @jenjudansg . The pearls are slightly softer but very qq and I like the adjustable sugar level for this drink. Great that queues are not long here.

Dirty Brown Sugar Milk Tea ($4.90)

Yet another #burpplebeyond deal thats beyond amazing. Frankly didn’t hold high hopes for this milk tea store especially when the nearby Liho sprouted a long queue while there was hardly one @hollin_sg . How do you beat a bubble tea having a 1 for 1 deal and the dirty brown sugar actually tasting quite good with their staple white pearls? I love that the drink was not too sweet as with many boba style drinks and the pearls had a less starchy bite to it and felt less heavy. Also tried the caramel tea rock salt drink and was again pleased to find that while the caramel aroma was present, the drink didn’t disappoint by overwhelming me with sweetness. Just a nice touch of caramel at 25% sugar level.

Ampang Kitchen ($100/pax)
.
This private dining establishment is set in the spacious air-conditioned kitchen of a landed house, a welcoming setting as you get lots of space to sit comfortably. We had 10 course for the evening and that is definitely a steal for the price paid.
.
We started off with 4 appetizers. Unfortunately, I can’t name a favourite as each dish was just so remarkable in their own way. I did an extra “wow” when the first spoonful of the umami packed Babi Kepiting soup hit me. The soup was just bursting with so much flavour and those pork & prawn meatballs dabbed with their housemade sambal infused heavily with the scent of kafir lime leaves really left a lasting impression.
.
We were then treated to 5 main course dishes, the most unique being the prawn & mango kerabu with the special ingredient being the banana leaf flower. I especially enjoyed the aromatics of this salad. My personal favourite was the beef rendang. Such a common dish found at most restaurants but a foodie would know that to find one with such tender succulent beef is the challenge. The viscous gravy was also a pleasure to have with rice.
.
The final course was the chendol. The pandan jelly was handmade from scratch and the gula melaka had been carefully sourced from Malaysia. Perfect dessert to end the decadent night.

Brown Sugar Boba Milk with Cream Mousse ($5.30)
.
Finally found the opportunity to jump on @tigersugarsg ’s bandwagon and I was so ready to dismiss this as yet another boba tea fad but I was so wrong. Hands-down my favourite bubble tea of them all. Queued for about half an hour at the 2nd branch located at B1 of Chinatownpoint. Every element in the cup works so well together. The pearls taste like chin chow with a qq texture while the brown sugar resembles kuromitsu. Both elements mixed with the meiji milk made me slurp this up in minutes.

White ($4.50)
.
Chanced upon @homeground.coffee and was so impressed with the decor of the place. The entrance is lined with booths for people to sit and enjoy their cuppa and the walls were adorned with art for sale. Ordered my flat white made from 50% Mata Do Sino beans from Brazil and 50% La joyeria from Columbia. The result is a rich chocolaty taste with hints of almond and hazelnut. Really relaxing to take a coffee break here!

Pina Colada Fruit Tea ($3.90)
.
New drinks place @kakuidas sets itself apart from other usual milk tea/fruit tea shops by serving up their drinks with kurozu, which is an Artisan Amber Rice Vinegar. I was somewhat perplexed over the ordering as they had 2 broad series of drinks infused with kurozu. The straight tea and milk tea series had the kurozu konnyaku while the rest of the drinks had the kurozu added into the drink. As a result of the kurozu, the drink carried with it a tangy and slightly sourish aftertaste. I did enjoy slurping up the konnyaku as it had a very soft jelly texture that just glides down the throat. I also added $0.60 to make my order a Party Tea set which included their signature original baked donut (UP $1.90). The donuts were made fresh and had a slightly crusty exterior and a rather strong egg flavour. It paired quite well with my drink.

Mermaid’s Tears ($5.50)
.
Gimmicky as it may sound, this drink @bobii.sg comprising mango, lemon, honey, fresh milk, butterfly pea and the signature bobii actually blends well together and I could really taste the different layers throughout the drink. Though not a pearls lover, the bobii pearls had a nice qq bite and carried a tinge of barley sweetness I appreciated.

Grab a bottle of velvety smooth white cold brew from Stamping Ground Coffee House or their other available cold brews @publicgarden this weekend! Loving the rich cream taste of their white!

Chicken Rendang ($18)
.
So, a scoop of the grub @prodigalcafe , this is their take on rendang chicken. 2 pieces of chicken drumsticks sous vide to perfection and coated with rendang paste thats also lightly torched, served on a bed of broccoli rice and a side of house fried chips. Loved the chips and chicken, just felt that the broccoli rice didn’t pair so well in this dish.

Finally a short coffee break away from the little monster at home. Newly opened @prodigalcafe serving up good coffee and some really decent grub!

Expresso Martini ($15 nett)
.
Recently opened @MrBrightsideSg at Duxton Hill provides yet another option for office-goers in search of a much needed place to wind down the work week. Though relatively new, this place is rather packed as the drinks are mostly wallet friendly without compromising on quality. My Expresso Martini was smooth though I would have preferred the coffee taste to be slightly stronger. Visit on Thursdays when all the cocktails go for $12 nett instead!
.
The grub here though, was a tad disappointing as the ones we had just wasn’t on the same satisfaction level as their drinks. The asian tacos (3 for $18) felt a little sad when the Tom Yum Goong version had just 1 piece of deep fried ebi topped with what reminds me of sweet thai chilli.

Beer deals ain’t getting better than this. 1-for-1 with the Entertainer app makes this $5/bottle @hatterstreet. As both names go, I could really taste the banana bread and a faint sticky toffee aftertaste in the respective beers.
