Telok Ayer's popular smokehouse Meatsmith has ventured into Little India with its second outlet, and head chef Andrew Baldus presents a menu of American barbecue accented with Indian spices, rubs and sauces. In short, expect seriously delicious American-Indian fusion food. Take Burppler Veronica Phua's cue and start with the Picklebacks ($5), which sees India's Amrut single malt whisky chased down with housemade jalapeno pickle juice, and then work your way through stellar snacks like Pulled Pork Samosas, Currywurst Sausages and Butter Chicken Hot Pockets ($7-$8 each). That should prime you well for their Stuffed Suckling Pig ($48), stuffed with a nasi biryani stuffing that mixes together lots of dried fruit and nuts to elevate the sweetness of the pork, as well as their flawless Tandoori Chicken ($18), which will impress with its flavourful marinade and incredibly moist meat. Pair the meats with an order of Gunpowder Potatoes ($6), where spot-on seasoning, crisp edges and curry leaves come together in addictive harmony. Wash everything down with tall glasses of Nimbu Pani ($4, free flow), a cumin-kissed Indian lemonade that's super refreshing and palate-cleansing.

I came here with rocket high expectations and this place still managed to surpass it. I love Indian food and I was really impressed with everything I had. From the vadas to the crispy, buttery laced dosa, we were indeed brought on a gastronomic journey.

We were lucky to have our Indian friend with us who graciously explained to us about the country's culture and food. The table was filled with oohs and aahs from the enlightment of our tastebuds and the knowledge that Indian food takes time, and heart to prepare & we could taste it that afternoon.

Aside from the famed dosa, I would strongly recommend the vada which was so crunchy on the outside yet remained light and fluffy on the inside. The mango lassi as well, brought our meal to a gentle, sweet end (plus they use real mango pulp!).

Go with an open mind and order whatever looks good because, chances are, it would.

Just last week, i finally meet up with like minded food lovers. Just check out the night's lovely Indian spread that is both colourful and delicious. Totally mind blown by the array of flavours. More insights soon! Thanks Burpple for the invitation.

Walk into Bombay Cafe's ludicrously pink digs and you may be inclined to not take it seriously, but we're glad we stuck it out despite the fact that the masala chai we came for was not available that day. With catchy Bollywood music videos on loop in the background, we tucked into one of the tastier renditions of Pav Bhaji ($8) we've had in a while. The classic Mumbai street snack sees toasted buttered buns served with a curried vegetable stew. It is challenging to prepare a truly outstanding version simply because the dish is so simple, but Bombay Cafe's version is punchy with flavour, and exceptionally good with a generous squeeze of lime over every bite. They also do a yummy Papdi Chaat ($8) — fried flour crispies topped with chickpeas, potato cubes and sev (an Indian crispy noodle snack) drenched in yoghurt and laced through with tamarind. The mains are tasty but nothing to write home about, and on the pricier side too, but children may enjoy the moist and chocolaty Sizzling Brownie ($10), which makes a show of being served on a hotplate. Save this spot for a Mumbai-inspired tea-time outing, and let us know how's the masala chai. Pro tip: Skip the coffee.

Appam ($4.80 for a set of two) that is crisp and brown along the edges and tender and fluffy in the centre, plus unfailingly great Madras coffee ($2.70).
