A safe dessert to end the meal on a sweet note, although I was aching for a black coffee after awhile (they are still waiting for their coffee machine to arrive). The filling is decadent and luscious, although we wish the crust was more buttery than crusty. Picky eaters, we are!
This roasted chicken was so close to perfection. Barring the undercooked parts next to the drumstick bone, the meat was wonderfully moist (breast meat included)! Bonus points for the herbed butter massaged under the skin for that extra flavour and golden brown finish. The gravy, blanched green beans and smashed potatoes were simple, but executed well.
Now you can have superb Sunday roast anytime!
Enjoyed this a bit more than the chicken mainly because of the richer, punchier gravy! The meat is tender, yet still has a nice give under your teeth with every bite.
Sides are the same as the chicken (blanched green beans and smashed potatoes).
Helmed by classically trained French chef Christophe Lerouy, his eponymous restaurant in Stanley Street is fast becoming one of the most celebrated openings. The most value-for-money way to experience his cooking is to book in for the Weekday Lunch Set ($38 for three courses; $55 for five courses) — the Burpple community has nothing but praise for the dishes served. Chef Lerouy's finesse is evident in both the food's flawless execution as well as flavour pairings. Dishes that have the community waxing lyrical include the mindblowing combination of hamachi with yellow curry sauce, the delicate poached Japanese oyster in comte beurre blanc, and a bacon and chocolate petit four. You'll have to try it to believe it.
