Hawkerfare!
The meatballs were worth the queue, very well marinated, juicy and tasty! Loved it more than the sotong balls, which were fresh but doesn’t have a very strong flavour to it. The meepok was simple yet well done too, complements the handmade meatballs! Very yummy comfort food!
Forgot how much this was exactly but was around $5, definitely a hidden gem in Orchard! The chicken drumstick is one of the best I’ve had, very freshly fried, tender and juicy - not to mention big! The rice was also tasty and added the fish fillet which was super yummy too. Always back here for this!
The laksa broth was just the right amount of spicy and milky - very tasty and addictive, and stings a little. Also loved how the noodles are cut up in short strands so they are easy to eat! The prawn pieces were not very fresh and sweet though, but would order again for the broth and noodles.
Hands down the best tapioca kueh I’ve ever tasted!! Fluffy, thick and tasty - whether you have it nicely baked from the oven or left overnight, it still tastes so good. Very value for money also for the portion you get at $1.30! You’ll be coming back for more!
This was such a satisfying meal! The big squids were surprisingly sweet and juicy, and the curry gravy on the pork chop made it especially fragrant. The curry gravy was also fresh and tasty, not too spicy but a lot of home-cooked feels. The chap chye was also well done, not too soggy and very flavourful. $5.50 for this combination, definitely worth queuing for!
Refreshing herbal soup, definitely no MSG as advertised! Not oily too but very soothing to cool and detox the body. Would have it again!
The chicken chop was pretty juicy, fries a little too oily. Quite a regular western food place with fast service.
This was spicier than I thought but the fish was pretty fresh (tender and smooth) and the portion of fish given was generous! Only wished it was less spicy as it numbed my taste buds for a while, but still fragrant and good for those who have a good threshold for spicy stuff! Very value for money!
New Thai fish soup stall at Bukit Merah Central (Khao Tom Pla)! This tasted very homely, very suitable if you’re looking for comfort food! The fish slices were not super impressive (good enough in terms of freshness) but the broth was really something. Very uniquely fragrant and light tasting, also not oily. I like how there were mini pork slices and dried shrimp too and it didn’t feel out of place. The service was a bit slow though!
Simple but good! Ban mian wasn’t too dry and soft but very chewy, the black sauce was fragrant and complemented the noodles and minced meat well. Interesting choice of veggies (star gooseberry leaves) and the anchovies were nicely fried. The soup was a bit too fishy but doesn’t matter as the main thing is the noodles. Will have it again!
Very comforting bowl of spinach soup! Was very flavourful with all the ingredients and filled me up just nice. Was just a bit too salty with the salted egg yoke bits in the soup, but comfort food nevertheless.
The fried pork pieces were so good... crispy, tender and tasty. Simple and well done!
