We are honestly surprised by the food at @ElMeroMeroSG, in a pleasant way. The contemporary Mexican restaurant reopened recently at Chijmes with a new look and head chef, and this Hamachi and Coconut Ceviche with Trout Roe and Avocado Puree is absolutely lovely!

This popular coffeeshop brings life to the otherwise quiet residential estate of Jalan Selaseh. We were here for nostalgic account.

This peanut looking tart is hazelnut, one of our favourites from the three-tier Afternoon Tea at the revamped Grand Lobby of @RafflesHotelSingapore. Love the realistically looking nuts atop the tart, an nostalgic inspiration from the days where diners dispose of their peanut shells on the floor in Long Bar. The texture of the deceiving looking peanut is soft as it is simply hazelnut-flavoured cream.

What you see on the surface, sometimes is not reflective of reality; applies to people as well.

We are usually used to having sukiyaki in a hotpot, so this Wagyu Sukiyaki from the one month old @WagyuExpress.SG is quite different in the sense the Hokkaido Wagyu Beef is first lightly grilled, before we dipped it into the usual egg sauce. Love the flavourful and tender beef slices here, at fairly reasonable prices in a fuss-free dining setting.

The restaurant is managed by the same team behind Aburiya and is located along the buzzing Tanjong Pagar Road.

Sate Kambing Betawi from Sama Sama by Tik Tok in Jewel - traditionally grilled Jakarta style baby lamb skewers which is not at all gamy from its overnight marination. Even the usual non-lamb eaters enjoyed this!

The signature Grilled Chicken at UYKD tasted like char siew, except it’s chicken. Perhaps we held too high hopes for this namesake dish, but it had not actually transported us to foodie nirvana.

After our Indonesian meal, we had the customary @BOPGelato, almost being to the point of boring by having our customary flavours - hazelnut and white chrysanthemum, with the aromatic thyme cone no less.

This brand new Peranakan concept serves hearty Peranakan fare at accessible prices. This Egg Skin Popiah is prepared from co-owner Christina Keilthy’s recipe that was handed down by her Godmother, and is served with chilli if you need that additional punch.
