I’m in two minds about the angled gourd and prawn xiao long bao ($12 for 10). Don’t get me wrong, it’s well made and has its own charms. But it is definitely one for those days when you’ve maybe already had regular meat XLBs the day before or the meal before! I don’t eat a lot of pork but I think it’s a travesty not to order the Din Tai Fung classic pork XLB. Next time for sure. : )
Dou Miao is one of those veggies that could be hard to prepare well, turning out chewy and making you feel like a cow chewing cud! Happy to report that the Dou Miao ($12) here is well stir-fried to a fragrant bright greenness that goes down easily. I wanted to order another plate of it!
Stewed beancurd in honey sauce ($6). The name of the dish hardly does justice to it. Comprising at least 5 ingredients - beancurd, black fungus, bamboo shoot, shiitake mushrooms and stewed peanuts, this makes you feel quite virtuous and healthy as you eat it. : ))
