One of the few cafes that has been making their rounds on social media recently would be that of OFFSITE — these folks are actually a new concept by the same folks behind The Crossing Edge at Manhattan House. OFFSITE is situated at the ground level of The LINQ @ Beauty World facing Upper Bukit Timah Road. OFFSITE is a cafe-cum-bar concept; apart from serving up espresso-based specialty coffee and specialty matcha, they also do serve up a range of smoothies, refreshers and a line-up of wine as well. For its food offerings, it is interesting to note that OFFSITE does serve up Appetisers, Sarnies, Sourdough & Spreads, Light Food and Pastries & Cakes throughout its operating hours for the entire day
The Portobello Melt is one of the items being listed in the Sarnies section of the menu at OFFSITE and is described to the come with elements such as Portobello, Roma Tomato, Kombu Truffle Miso Butter, Melted Cheeses and Arugula — a pretty combination of elements that can be described as safe and conventional for a sandwich offering. The Sarnies are also served with the sandwich being sliced into halves that allows patrons to easily takeaway half a portion of the sandwich if they are unable to finish the entire sandwich. The choice of bread used for the Sarnies offerings at OFFSITE would be the sourdough — the sourdough here provides a crusty exterior with a bit of tension to chew; all that whilst coming with a slight tang. Whilst there is the use of Kombu Truffle Miso Butter here, the aroma of truffle here isn’t particularly detectable; the Portobello does provide the sandwich with a bouncy bite, while the Roma Tomato does provide a zestiness and was refreshing amidst the other elements coming in between. The mix of melted cheeses also helped to bind all of the elements together; all stretchy whilst carrying a savoury note that further adds on to the other elements in the sandwich.
