This was bad too. The pork esp, texture was terrible and there's a sourness
It's disgustingly weak now. Tofu wasn't good either, it's too firm and tasteless, the ginger comes thru too strongly
A very wet version of zhajiangmian, although that's not what they call it.
The sauce is very good, it's got serious flavour from some kind of preserved vegetable. Minced meat was good also
Asked for mild spicy and true enough, there's only a bit of heat. Quite numbing, there's a lot of peppercorns
The fish is meaty but not the right type for this dish, it doesn't eat the sauce properly, so it's not very flavourful. Potato noodles were top quality. Bean sprouts were undercooked and the bean curd strips had too much bite too
Average rendition
Very unique and quite good. The pomelo loses its sharpness and just contributes texture, it's more pudding than mango and the creamy flavour was rather strong
Pork ribs were abit dry but the soup is superb. Sweetness and umami, a deep yet clean flavour
Flavour ok but texture sucks. The noodles are well separated but there's this very clumpy heavy texture nonetheless despite the thin noodles
This is why paradise is good. Full on flavour, full seasonings and umami no BS
Smashing
Ridiculous expensive and their skin sucks, it's too dense even tho it crisps up. There's good soup inside but the skin breaks easily too, no idea what's up w that. Filling was ok
The exact same thing but with noodles, however instead of 6 u only get 4 dumplings. Not worth if you ask me, why should just the noodles cost so much, the dumplings Cost 10.8++ by itself
I asked for sauce by the side because their sauce is abit too numbing but they can't make a less numbing sauce, apparently premixed
The palace thing in Chinese cuisine is not just a random name. Palace recipes are different from normal and a lot more refined.
Which is exactly what I tasted, immediately, when I bit into it. The bite was extremely refined and very pleasant, the flavours from the red bean and soybean powder were balanced too.
A very good rendition of this snack, and thus deserving of the price
5bucks for aloe Vera in slightly sour water. It's a scam, there was barely any osmanthus aroma
Century egg was good on its own, this is a very different rendition from what I was expecting.
The spicy sour flavours were interesting and it seems like there's some kind of alcohol added as well, otherwise it could just be the marinade of the peppers added after it ferments?
Hongyouchashou
I sang praises about this previously but I realise it's not entirely perfect yet. It's quite spicy actl, needs more punch in terms of the body and it's a little too numbing. The wantons were also way too hot
The flavour combination in the filling is correct, which is more than can be said in many other places. Plus the soup is great as ever
Not bad at all
Still damn good, it's really the soy sauce that carries this dish because it's flavourful without being too salty and the body was perfect, not too strong
Generous amount of prawns and char siew, the overall sweetness of the fried rice was pleasant and not overwhelming.
Grains had a nice bite and were well separated, not too oily too
Could have had more wok hei and flavour but this is again a pretty good restaurant version, worth a try
