Taking on a neon-yellow-lit industrial vibe, the well-loved Arab St cafe, Tarik, has opened its doors to a new dine-in space in Bali Lane. ๐๐ป We were recommended their signature Teh Tarik, and Roti Bakar (kaya butter). We also ordered their Matcha Gula Melaka to try!
Served in a siphon โ๏ธโจ and decanted into ceramic cone cup, the nostalgic teh tarik drink was elevated to a instagram worthy cafe beverage. Tastewise, it was truly one of the ๐ฝ๐๐๐ ๐๐ป teh tarikโs we've ever had. The ceylon tea base was so potent, and left a satisfying and luxurious aroma in our mouths! ๐ They also have ๐ง๐ฒ๐ต ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ธ (spices), and ๐ง๐ฒ๐ต ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ณ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ป (spices and saffron) if you're up to try something different. ๐ซ
This drink comprises gula melaka, milk, and a whipped matcha cream. Unfortunately, despite the long wait for the drink, it wasn't to our liking. The matcha flavour, in the form of a cream, was already diluted, and was topped on a big glass of milk and gula melaka. The ratio of milk: matcha cream: sugar needs some reconsideration because this was really sugary. ๐ฏ It reminded us of matcha white chocolate and unfortunately, the matcha flavour was barely discernable. ๐ฅ
Because they were shorthanded, the friendly staff checked if we were comfortable with waiting for her to prepare the matcha as she had to clear other orders before she could make our drink, which was fine by us. However, as she was the only one running the show (her colleague was busy), we had to wait almost 30 minutes ๐ฅต. But they don't charge GST and service charge here which makes the drinks While operations may need some ironing out we definitely think their Teh Tarik is โจ๐ฌ๐ค๐ง๐ฉ๐ ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐โจ, and weโd be back for that! ๐ซถ๐ป
