The fish chunks may look small but they’re fresh and flavourful (more to the sweet side)!!! The ikura on top is a nice touch too!!

Super shiok mentaiko salmon don. Its worth the price and super filling bowl of goodness!

Ordered the Truffle and Garlic Butter dons. Both were really yummy. The truffle and garlic butter were fragrant but not overpowering. Portion looked small but it’s actually very filling! Each bowl with came with a Green Tea and Miso Soup as well. Definitely worth a try with the 1-1 deal!

Honestly speaking,, this place doesn’t give off the best first impression. Had I not know beforehand, I wouldn’t have realise that this was a Japanese restaurant.

But pass the first impressions, the beef don was really good. I mean beef, truffle and egg is such a classic flavour pairing that it can’t go wrong. The portion may look small but trust me, it is really filling. There was a right proportion of beef and rice. You can be assured that every scoop of rice is accompanied with some beef. Not just that, the truffle taste was prominent and you can taste it in every bite. The rice was done really well! It wasn’t dry and not overly saucy. The egg also adds a nice rich and creamy flavour to the dish. Comparing the Angus to wagyu, it is definitely not as tender/ melt in ur mouth but it was still very tender and the flavour of the beef was not overpowered by the sauce or the truffle.

The only con would be that the restaurant seating only has bar facing seats and no table seats because of its Omakase style for dinner. Would not recommend this place for big groups.

Truffle and garlic butter beef bowls, beef was good but small portions meant we wouldn’t visit without the 1-1

Total cost for 2 bowls: $23.90 (1-for-1 price)

There was a good beef to rice ratio. The beef was not very tender, but it still had good flavour. The perfectly runny onsen egg helped to bring the whole dish together nicely.

The truffle one was fragrant and not over-powering. For the miso mayo flavour, it is definitely worth a try for mayo lovers !! (but for me i found it slightly jelat towards the end)

I saw some burpple comments on the miso soup being bland, but the miso soup served to me was flavourful (perhaps they improved their recipe)

The staff were also friendly and it was a good experience overall. Definitely worth a try with burpple 1-for-1, but perhaps there are better donburi options elsewhere if you are paying the full price :)
