PSA: The good folks at Bao Er Cafe have brought their hokkien mee and kaya toast to town for CBD folks like me!

I am so slow in posting that they have expanded to a whole new outlet known as Treasure Toast in Purvis Street. Don't worry, I will be coming back to post about Bao Er Cafe in the near future!

I was in the area in the late afternoon on the weekend after 8days blew up the Internet with news about Treasure Toast. Their hokkien mee was sold out by 3.30 pm and I was lucky that they came back to me to ask if I wanted the last plate available. As the new chef was still getting to grip with the dish, Chef Jeremy himself is still helming the wok in the kitchen at Purvis Street. So I got real lucky!

Happy to say that the wet gooey wok hei infused mass of hokkien mee is still full of flavours and delicious even though it was a reheated takeaway. The kaya toast is also excellent as always. They do have to work on their drinks though as it tasted rather bland and diluted.

I also met the other Jeremy (I.e. Chefs partner for this new joint venture) and he was telling me that the lines have instantly formed after the media publicity a couple of days ago and they are finding it hard to manage. So be patient... You will definitely get your plate of hokkien mee.

That said, it will be interesting to see how Treasure Toast fares against its competitors across the road though Jeremy did say that whilst there is some overlap in terms of dishes, there is still something for everyone!
