Quite liked the crust of these tarts as there was a crunch to it. The fillings were decent, but the ondeh topping was lacklustre. A decent place for dessert, but it didn’t really impress.

Overall, they were not bad for the price after burpple beyond! Peanut butter taste was quite distinct while the speculoos flavour was a good combination with the chocolate! However, the caramel biscuit was very soft which was quite weird. Would come back to try other tarts!

Standing in front of the display I thought “the tarts are larger than your mini tarts from Polar/ Delifrance, but smaller than your usual dessert/ pastry options at cafes.” Size aside I was saddened by the doughy, unappetising ondeh ondeh deceptively and beautifully topped on the tart base. If I ever do return I’d stick to flavours less prone to err, like the sweet chocolate salted caramel.
On to the base, the tart shells nostalgically remind me of the hard crumbly sorts I used to have from a particular commercial bakery; nothing fancifully artisan but it’d satiate.

Not a fan of coffee but I think both are decent, not bad. Paid $7 for both drinks using BB 1 for 1. Wanted to go for either Matcha Latte or Avocado Milkshake but both were oos coincidentally. ;(

Small cafe tucked among the many shops at Hong Lim Complex. Wanted to try the tarts after looking at the reviews but there weren’t much choices available (no ondeh, orh nee, lemon meringue, hazelnut chocolate or milo which look so good from the photos) when we went on Saturday at 5pm. Will come back to try again!

Located within hong lim complex, whiskit is a homely bakery that sells local flavoured tarts such as ondeh ondeh, orh nee, milo kao tiew. Pictured is the hazelnut chocolate and the milo kao tiew tarts. While very affordably priced, the hazelnut chocolate tart is quite disappointing because the lotus cracker was already soggy- either because of the refrigeration or its not that fresh. The milo kao tiew tart was sufficiently malty with the milo nuggets on top of the chocolate custard.

My efforts to locate this hidden gem in a quiet corner behind the bustling streets of Chinatown paid off. The tarts were on point in every aspects. From the perfectly smooth, sweet and citrusy lemon meringue tart, to the rich and gooey chocolate tart topped with crunchy hazelnuts and speculoos. 😍
